Certainly sounds like the motor, see if you can see if the drive belt is o/k, if it is then I would remove the motor and check the brushes for wear, if they appear to be o/k ,then I would think you have a controller problem.
Plz rate my solution.

Severe vibration/noise during spin cycle. What could the problem be and how do I fix it?

if the machine was run severely out of balance (rugs) you'll need to get a look in the back up near the top with a good flashlight , this involves unhooking power and hoses and turning it around , you may have broken a drum suspension link , this device (three) keeps the drum from contacting the shell , if its true and its allowed to run this way you will brake off water hoses on bottom of drum and water will runout on floor

GE Washer stuck in wash cycle and not draining.

humming is usually the result of bad motor windings , are u saying it washes for 20 minutes or just stays on that cycle without doing any washing? a non moving drum can be a bad motor coupler or belt if belt driven.

Hi, I have a frigidare affinity front load washing machine and when it is running a cycle it sounds like the drum is banging around in the machine. It's a new noise, did something come loose? What

Hello gen0313 - From what you are describing it sounds like the unit could possibly have a broken shock/bearing or damaged tub. A certified technician will need to accurately diagnosis the bearing and pulling system behind the drum for repairs.

Hi, My guess is that you have an uneven load in machine. When it's time for the spin cycle to run, it will not complete that spin. You will have to open the door and rearrange the load so that it will spin.( machine will not run when door is open). good luck.

Hi just read your posting. Now does the washing tangle around the agitator? In your posting you mentioned the washing not distributing around the drum.Could you confirm that your machine is a top loader for me,because the word "drum and distribute" are terms for a front loader. If your machine is a top loader which I think it is then the problem could be your brake arm or spin coil is not operating. Please reply and let me know if the clothes are tangling around the agitator.Looking forward to your reply.

My washing machine starts its cycle, but when it gets to the drum going around it stops working as though the drum will not spin

Hi!

Welcome to Fixya,

please off the power and open the back case of your washing machine and turn on to check if motor is running and the belt is in tension.

if the belt not already in tension, then buy for replacement with the same spec.

if the motor not working, you need a qualified technician in your area to check the problem.

or If you need further assistance to do it with your self, so let me know. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.

Thanks,

aclamonte

This is a problem with the pressure system usually caused by a build up of powder residue but can be caused by other blockages. Remove machine lid and locate pipe which is about 6mm in diameter. follow pipe down which will lead to pressure bottle. Clean out and replace and should be ok. If bottle is clear check pipes for other blockages and check preesure pipe for damage.
