heat up a cup of water and dishwashing liuid to boiling, and let it sit for 5 minutes. then use a clean sponge with "baking soda", and gently wipe down the interior. the 5 minute soak lessens elbow greae and uses modern chemistry to loosen stains and dried spills.

microwave a wet sponge or wet cloth dish towel inside for about a minute. This will create steam, be careful the sponge or towel will be hot. Wipe out interior with wet paper towel, removing glass carousel or tray to wash in sink.
If you have stubborn stains or dried food, add some baking soda onto your damp paper towel, and scrub with this. The baking soda is a very mild abrasive as well as being a good solvent for food and other baked on ****. Rinse, repeat and dry when finished.

I found an easy way to clean the interior of a microwave oven....boil about 3 or 4 ounces of vinegar in a bowl and then wipe the interior clean with a sponge. If the inside is really caked up, it may take more than one time of doing this. Only disadvantage is if you can't handle the smell of the vinegar, but it goes away quickly.
