My TV won't turn on, i replaced the Q502 but works

Sounds like it's drawing too much current from the mains, for one reason or other. On the other hand, it could just be wear and tear.
When you replace those capacitors, see if you can also find a replacement for its initial power transformer-- If its worn out, it could be whats compromising your whole system.
It would be helpful if you uploaded a few pictures as well.

Sony KV-27S42 27" TV Problem

Hello BrianMcL
You are 100% correct, you will need a degaussing coil to take care of this problem. The instructions on how to use it will be included with the degaussing coil.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,

Lost remote control

I have been there with my KV-27S42 and lost the remote. I bought one from Replacement Remotes.com, it doesn't look exactly like the other one (a couple years ago the replacement DID look like the Sony and they must have been threatened) so now it looks a little different but is an equivalet and will solve your problem for $18.

Here's the link:

http://www.replacementremotes.com/store/productdetailp.cfm?productid=1473&categoryid=88

Now my trouble is my KV-27S42 quit working YESTERDAY and I think it's going to cost more than it's worth. May have to abandon Sony because I read about a lot of failures.

1999 sony trinitron kv-36fv26

Hello, please check: 1) is the regulated B+ avail at collector of HOT? 2)does the base of HOT go negative when unit is powered? 3)have you examined the external PIN diode for leakage? I sorta recall from memory this circuit and the B+ path from original 165 volt source thru to collector of HOT is not a simple distrubution path i recall a VDR in second stage with a resistor to ground around 5.6 ohms this resistor will discolor or change value if the VDR is defective be careful there are several of these VDR's avail use only the correct one. Best regards, Arpi
