We have an electronic Sears front load model with which that happened. . If this is a Sears machine contact the service number located in your manual and they should be able to talk you through it. For us it ended up being a door switch that had become misaligned. Make sure the machine spins the water out of the tub before you try to open the door if it is a front loader.
Hi, Remove the top cover, and release the door catch from inside the washer, you will probably need a screwdriver or similar to do do this. You will need to replace the door catch and spring, and possibly the door lock, as it may break when you force the door open. Thank you !!
have you tried a wash with chlorine bleach? if not aloow washer to fill with hot water open door pour in 1-2 cups clorine bleach aloow to wash a few min open door and with rag wet in bleach/water and wash inside front door boot rolling it toward you to get into inner portion alow to finish wash and rinse ..in future leave door open a little to allow to air out ..moisture remaing in door boot tends to cause mold/mildew problems ..you are not alone ALL front loads have same issue not just yours
sounds like your door lock switch may not engage.try opening and closeing the door. unplug the unit wait a few minutes plug back in and see if you can open the door. check to see if the door lock lights up.. hope this helps..
