Question about Apple iPod nano
Oh, well an iPod cannot live without a computer. The dock connector/data transfer cable is a charger itself. It will charge from the computer itself, and will transfer data also when connected and charging.
You can use a separately sold USB Wall Adapter from Apple to charge the iPod from a wall socket. The adapter has a slot to insert the USB Cable and it charges.

This problem is most probably caused by a faulty battery, if the battery is old it could be caused by that or if the battery was left uncharged for a long period of time.
You can purchase a new battery by following this link: Google Search, you can do the replacement yourself by following this link which will take you to a tutorial of how to disassemble your iPod Touch: Click Here

SOURCE: Piece of charger stuck in I-pod
I took a pin (the type that comes with clothing) bent a tiny hook on the tip then inserted it, rotated and pulled the piece out. Worked like a charm. You need a thin pin.
