Remote not working

The remote control on my unit recently stopped working. The batteries are fine. Quite simply, where I used to point the remote at the Aiwa and it would control everything I wanted it to, now when I point the remote at the unit and press buttons, nothing happens. Is there any way to fix this? Can I determine if it's the remote or the boombox that's having a problem? Thanks.

Re: Remote not working

You can use any digital camera or camcorder in order to check the remote control. Direct the remote (press any button) in direction of camera lens. If remote works you will see the bright spot on your camera screen. If you need more info please advice.

When I purchased this item, the remote was not in the box. how can I get a new remote as it is a Christmas gift for a granddaughter

If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site Check this site too. Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Visit some online sites too, which deals with electronic spare parts.

Volume decreases during use

Very simple. It is not a defective unit. Simply a matter of volume attenuation, hold the "function" and "grove"keys for aprox 5 seconds until a message saying vac off appears. Problem solved. Resets itself eveytime the unit is turned off .

My remote control isn't working

Take a digital camera like the one on your phone... point the 'business end' of the remote at the camera while you can view it in the screen and press a button on the remote.. the IR LED on the remote should be visible on the camera screen. If not, try replacing the battery. If that doesn't work either then it would seem the remote as come to an unfortunate demise. If you can see a blinking light from the remote then it would seem the issue is with the radio's receiver. Make sure the IR port on the radio is free of stickers or anything else that might block it. Also, be sure that you have LOS (line of sight) from the remote to the radio.
Other than that it would seem you need to take it to a repair expert locally.

Remote control

You need to resurface the contacts. Here's how you do it:
First, disassemble the remote. Clean the black foil pads on the circuit board with rubbing alcohol. Now take a #2 pencil and a razor and shave the graphite from the "lead" onto a piece of paper (hold the blade perpendicular to the lead, this results in a finer powder). Now that you have a nice pile of powdered graphite, blot a Q-Tip into it to saturate the cotton with graphite. Rub the graphite onto the little black pads on the rubber button membrane, and be sure to apply more graphite to the Q-Tip every 2 to 3 buttons. Blow off any excess graphite. reassemble remote and test.
