Depending on the type of door the dryer has, is how you approach the access of these dryers. Mostly though you yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out of your way. Get the drum out, oil the wheels and idler. Use this guide to re route the new belt: BELT CONFIG

Dyer will not turn on. Can hole the starter button in and dryer will run. remove and the dryer will stop running. When holding the start button the dryer does not heat. Any Idea's as to what may be...

broken belt or broken broken belt switch most likely. Open the door. Hold in the door switch and push the start button. Does the drum turn? If it does turn then the broken belt micro switch is where I would look first. If the drum don't turn of course I would replace the broken belt.
The only Kenmore dryer that has a broken belt switch is the 4 wheel drive model. Here is a video which shows how to get into this dryer and replace the belt:

How do i change a alternator for a escort van 1.8 diesel van

This is for a 1999 1.8 Diesel 55 Escort Van.

You have to remove a few parts but its not a major dilema. Almost all work needs to be carried out from under the van, so it needs jacking up.

1. Disconnect battery. Loosen bolts on FR wheel, jack up high and take wheel off. MAKE SURE HANDBRAKE IS ON AND WORKING!!!

2. Inside the wheel arch is a cover that goes over the alternator, three bolts to remove.

3. From under the van you will see a tension wheel keeping the belt tight. It requires a star shaped fitting to loosen, if you dont have one you can use a small ratchet piece that grips it.

4. Once belt is loose remove the two nuts holding the tension wheel in place. Keep to one side and remember how it goes back.

5. You now have access to the three bolts holding the alternator in place. Its tight and a little tricky but persevere and they will come out.

6. Wiggle the old unit out, unbolt the two wires on the alternator, bolt back onto the new unit.

7. Do the rest in reverse. When putting tension back on the belt do not over tighten, belt should just feel firm.

Remember to connect the battery again! And use a volt meter to test battery. You should get around 14v with engine running.

Done.

I have a 03 Fatboy and had a blowout on the rear tire. Money is really tight at this time so i want to take the wheel off myself and bring it somewhere to have a new tire mounted. I dont have a repair...

You don't need to download any information, just use your head. Taking the rear tire off is simple and putting it back on is simple with a bit of knowledge.

First loosen the axle nut. On the adjusters on either side of the axle, loosen each of them and allow the wheel slide towards the front. Now, start pulling out the axle. Depending on which way the axle was put in, different things will come out. Watch for various spacers. Make sure you mark the spacers and make a drawing of where they go and in what direction they go in. The will be one the belt side of the wheel. The brake bracket is on the other side. there are usually one short one on each side that goes into the wheel bearing seals as well. Once you have the axle out, work the belt off the rear pulley and get the wheel out from under the bike. You may have some belt guards that need to come off as well.

When you put the wheel back on, it's simply the opposite of taking it off. Now, you must adjust the rear wheel and belt tension. Measure the adjuster bolts one each side of the wheel. They must be as close to being the same as possible to ensure the wheel is straight in the swing arm. Adjust the belt so you have about a half inch up and down movement with ten pounds of upward force applied in the center of the lower run on the belt. If you don't get the belt tight enough, it'll usually make a "squeak" sound every time you shift gears.

Good Luck

How to put on a belt

Most vehicles have a belt diagram located under the hood...the tensioner pulley is spring loaded and must be pulled up to get the belt on then released to hold the belt tight. Some front wheel drive vehicles require a tensioner tool, but most rear wheel drive vehicles tensioner can be released w/a ratchet.

Ineed to put drum belt on can u tell me how

Unplug dryer and shut off gas. Disconnect gas line. Tip dryer onto its front. Remove back panel. Unscrew and remove inside back manifold. Place belt around drum and fit into pulley wheel(s) on motor shaft. (There may be a spring loaded tension arm on one of the wheels. Install the belt on it so that it pulls the belt tight around the drum and pulleys.) Check friction gasket (that the drum rotates on) on manifold and replace it if worn thin. Install manifold. Install back panel. Reconnect power and gas.

How to open the dryer and replace the belt

all dryers open from the top so open the dryer door and look inside the top edge you will see two screws . remove the screws and lift the top panel . the front panel has two screws on the top one on the left and one on the right remove them both and lift up the front panel to remove it. the only way you can install the new belt is removeing the front panel because the belt goes around the drum from the front. once you remove the old belt out put the new one in . the belt goes around the drum from the front and then to the motor and idle roller . you can reach the idle roller from the front left corner or from the back of the dyer? i like to install them from the back cause its more easy. in the back of the dyer where the hose goes connected to the blower is the top with four screws remove the hose from the blower tube and remove the four screws. after you remove everything you should be able to see the dryer motor and idle rooler put the belt over the motor first then over the idle rooler .always make sure when you do this the dyer is unpluged and after your done plug it back and turn it on to make sure it runs correctly . if it runs ok put everything back together again.
