Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5100 All-In-One Printer

Black ink is faded or doesn't print at all

I've had my Kodak EasyShare 5100 for a few months now, all was fine in the beginning, but now it does not want to print black ink. I have tried all the troubleshooting ideas, reinstalled the software, bought new ink and nothing is working. I appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks.

    new black ink won't print at all..............installed correctly no idea what is going on. help

    Printed fine when new, but when I replaced the black ink cartridge it printed very light gray instead of black. Try changing settings, try another new ink cartidge, but nothing works. Still printing very light gray.

Once installed, Kodak All-in-One printer Home Center software allows you to print, copy, scan, and configure your All-in-One printer from your Windows XP or Vista computer.
To open the Home Center software window on your computer, use the Home Center icon on the Desktop or in the Start Menu

From the All-in-One printer Home Center main menu, selecting one of the six menu items enables you to:

  • Scan pictures and documents
  • Enhance and copy pictures
  • Enhance and print images
  • Configure settings for printing, copying, and scanning from the control panel

New ink cartridges in 5100 printing almost as if running out of ink print is faded how to adjust for best results


Most likely you need a new printhead. Call Kodak. Our 5100 has had printheads replaced. They will ask you if you calibrate & clean printhead. Do those first before calling. It is in maintenance. To find maintenance, click on the ? mark.

If you are not using the printer that often, the ink may be drying out.. once the ink is dry on the printhead, it could very well be the cause of the problem.

Can print paper but photos have green tint


If you refilled the ink cartridges, this can happen. Kodak uses pigment based inks, the others use dye based inks. Also, make sure your printer is set for normal photo printing, rather than special effects.

Printer Kodak Easyshare 5300 Will not print black ink


They overnighted a new printer head and free ink. We already recieved it. AMAZING. Thank you Kodak. They are awesome.

Printer not printing black ink


Contact Kodak with your problem. The problem is in the print head. Kodak will send you a new print head free, then follow the instructions that are inclosed to change the print head. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE IT WITHOUT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS. You may damage the new head and they will not replace it a second time for free.

Black ink non-printing


Here are the things you will be asked to try if you call support. They may fix the problems as well. Taking the printhead out and putting it back in is the big helper.

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
(If this is a 5100, do it in the home center ->? in the top right ->Maintainence ->Clean Printhead.)
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.

Kodak Easyshare 5100 Wont Print In Color Or Black


For all of those problems, you need to replace the Printhead. This is one of the most common issues among the Kodak All in One Printers, they simply stop printing text. However, it seems that Kodak is sending out some new printheads that work so much better, so you should get in contact with their support and have them replace their printheads. Kodak 5100 will not print consistently


I am currently having the same problem with a 17" iMac Intel Core Duo.  The printer worked fine for a few months, now it will only print in black and white and sometimes in color that is extremely faded.  I have tried every troubleshooting tip in the book and still no luck.
