Question about Xerox WorkCentre XL2140df Laser Printer
This machine is great. I've loved it. A couple months ago it started leaving a residue of loose toner along the right edge of the paper. I tried cleaning the machine thoroughly which temporarily would make a little difference. Then I finally replaced the toner cartridge and it seemed all better. Well, it has now come back. This printer does not get a lot of use so it is not after many copies. Oh, AND Xerox no long supports this machine with service. AND I just hate to throw things into the landfill.
I also am at a loss on how to change the default paper tray. The properties at the printer window will not take the changes.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
I would think you just have another bad cartridge. have you simply tried shaking it side to side? May just be built up on one side, but those cartridges are notorious for going bad. You need to vacuum the machine out well also. That toner and developer get in all those little plastic supports and can cause toner to dump.I would say the chance of a bad cartridge again is about 95 percent.
The printing problem. Have you tried downloading the driver from the Xerox.com site? Or simply reloading the driver. Sounds like its corrupted somehow. And when you change the tray, you are clicking apply?

start a print from tray 1/manual feed and just as the trailing edge of paper is entering the machine; quickly open it to stop print and take out the cartridge and look at it's drum and the paper underneath. If the issue is there at that point then it would point to loose toner residue underneath the cartridge. if not then the fuser area has to be cleaned. Wipe the area clean with a lint free cloth, do not use compressed air.....
