Re: whats region 1 dvd?

Dvds are coded differently depending on which region of the world they are intended for. there are eight regions - check this link for more info; this was a pointless idea that was supposed to limit video piracy, but only actually causes problems and increased production costs The US is in region 1, so the problem is the settings on your dvd/vcr as to what region it is coding the discs as. You may be able to change this in one of the menus, but it may be designed for only one region code output. Check the manual - if you need a manual or have trouble then please post the make and model of your dvd vcr recorder and we can try to help Hope this helps you :)

I have a GPX portable DVD player that is showing wrong region. It was playing these same disks before and now it will not?? Any help?????

Commercial DVD disks are "keyed" to a specific "region".
USA is in "Region 1", and Europe is in a different region.

Some DVD players allow you to "switch region", but only up to FIVE times, and then it "locks" into one region.

Hi, I have a samsung dvd/vcr combo player model number v6800 which I hacked to be region free. It now plays dvds with region codes regardless from where they originate (ie; 1 or 4), however, some of my...

If the dvds which are "all regions" are recorded from a computer, your dvd player may not play them. I assume the dvds which have a region code have been professionally prepared. Sometimes, the cheap dvd players will play anything while the more sophisticated ones will give you trouble unless everything is just perfect.

Region code 4 on Samsung DVD-VR355 player/recorder

I live in Australia and have two Samsung DVD/VCR player recorders, DVD-VR375 and DVD-VR355. I could only play Region 4 DVDs until I pressed DVD, with no DVD in the units, pressed Menu then 76884, then 9, inserted a Region 1 DVd and it played in both units.

Wrong Regional Disc.

DVDs are ecoded with region codes to indicate what area of the world they are made for. These codes may be 1,2,3, etc depending on which region they are made for.
DVD player read these codes and if the disc region code does not match the region the device is made for, the player will not play the disc.
Region 1 is for USA so most DVDp players made for use in USA require region 1 discs.
Some DVD players called multi region DVD players can be set to play different region DVDs but they are typically more expr=ensive then one region players and the code must be changed each time a different region disc is played.
