SOURCE: dryer gets really hot to the touch.

make sure entire machine is clear of lint and the operating thermostat is the likely problem. In these cases I prefer to replace all the thermostats unless it has been replaced recently. Eric

SOURCE: Originsal problem - dryer would

Did you also clean the exhaust hose of your dryer, a build of lint in the hose will really hurt the dryers ability to dr your clothes.

A pin hole tear in the dryer vert screen shouldn't have that big effect on the operation of the machine.

SOURCE: Dryer gets really hot after

Has it always been hot like that? If so it may need to have the gas valves converted. Most dryers ship with natural gas orifices, which DO NOT work with LP/Propane.

The good news is most dryers ship with all the necessaru orifices to convert between the two gasses, and your owner's manual should have instructions for performing the procedure, If not, post your model number and I'm sure I or someone else can look up the instructions for you.

Hope this helps.

NEW WATTER HEATER MAKES A HUMMING /WHISTLING SOUND

Factory-installed heat traps can cause this problem:

http://waterheatertimer.org/9-ways-to-save-with-water-heater.html#heat-trap

Remove heat traps, or heat trap inserts, or heat trap nipples.
Make your own heat traps, and save 4-9$ per year, using flex copper connections, or reconnect pipes in heat-trap configuration.
Always insulate pipes.
With electric heater, pipe insulation can run all the way to tank.
With atmospheric-vent gas water heater, the pipe insulation cannot obstruct air intake at draft hood. With power vent gas, the pipe insulation can run all the way to tank.

Hi, My maytag bravos dryer is one year and 2 months old. Suddenly it has stopped drying the clothes, it takes forever to dry a load and clothes are very warm and wet, lots of steam in the dryer, also the...

Sounds like the exhaust fan is not working. There's an electric blower at the back of the unit that forces air out through the exhaust vent. Unplug the unit, pull the vent off the back, and see if you can reach in and touch the fan blades and make them move. If it won't move something is probably caught in there. You may need to take off the back of the unit and remove the housing cover to the fan assembly in order to really tell what's going on, but it sounds like your fan has an obstruction. It could also be that the fan motor is fried but that seems less likely. Remember to have the unit unplugged, there's some dangerous voltage inside.

Dyer really hot, not drying clothes

Is the dryer tumbling? If not, you may have a broken belt or some other drive assembly issue.

Also, turn the dryer on and go outside to the vent discharge - you should feel air coming out at a pretty good clip. If not, the vent line is obstructed and will need to be cleaned out.

The dryer will not stay on the hot setting for very long, it will shut itself off after about 5 mins. it will stay on for the other 2 heat setting but not the hot setting. please help

You need to check your high limit switch with it located on the vent pipe on the back of the system. The limit switch is saying that your Dryer is getting to hot when it may be or may not be. Most of the time it is not getting to hot. Just when it notices heat it will shut itself off. The other thing that i recommend is that you clean your lint trap and vent pipe all the way to outside.

Dryer doesn't get hot enough to dry clothes in one cycle

Check your lint trap and vent. This is a common problem with a clogged trap or vent pipe. Best solution is to run a brush with a long handle all the way to outside and push out everything that you can.

Odor around the lint trap, cleaned but persists

The lint trap is an opening into the dryer vent and vent pipe. The dryer needs to be pulled out from the wall, the vent pipe disconnected and then the back of the dryer and the entire pipe cleaned of lint and other debris. this is the only way to get rid of the odor.

Won't dry clothes

Try running the dryer with the vent pipe unplugged. There should be a lot of hot air coming out, if not the insides need to be cleaned. If it really moves air, and dries a load ok unhooked, your vent is clogged. Clean it if you can. If you can't, look into a lint trap that will work for your situation, some have a water trap, some are good filters, etc. If the air is not hot, some of the electric element may be bad. If it's gas, it could need a tune up and cleaning inside.
