Question about GE GSS25LGM Side by Side Refrigerator
I have a GE GSS22JEmcww side by side and it it not operating at full capacity, running as if the defrost cycle is on. If I turn off for a while and restart it seems to function better but it will warm up with-in 24hrs. I just figured it was a bad defrost timer, but I could not find one on the unit or in parts look-up. How should I proceed?

Evaporator fan motor inside the freezer is working? Any frost on the freezer back wall?
This is the fan inside the freezer section, it will circulate the cold air around in the freezer and blow the cold air from the freezer into the fresh food section, it also sucks the warm air from the fresh food section back into the freezer to be re-cooled.
Hot condensor coils ( under the refrigerator ) been cleaned recently?
That is part of a full model#.

Your refrigerator has a control board located on the back. If you can unplug refrigerator and remove the board so you can examine both sides. We need to look for burn marks on the board. That circuit board controls all functions on your refrigerator. If you want we can get this fixed from here, Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Do you have ice /frost buildup on freezer wall?If so auto defrost is not working.3 possible causes ,turn the defrost timer manually to defrost position either measure amps @ 3.5 amps or listen in freezer section for crackling popping or sizzling. If you dont hear/measure this you have a bad heater or defrost tstat .Remove freezer wall look at top of coil for thermodisc 2 wires and 1 or 2 glass heaters (btm, mid coil).Tsat can be bypassed by connecting the 2 wires or checked for continuity closed at approx 20'.heaters may be visibly burnt or broken recommend changing both parts

Remove the screw , on the left side of the control panel , and pull the panel , from the left side , outward to the right . You should now see , slightly to the right , from the middle , a black screw , a hole with slot , and slightly higher to the right , a hole with a white piece , with a hole in it . Now , the hole with the slot , turn with a screwdriver , until you hear/feel a louder click . Turn this slowly . When you hit the right click , the refrig will shut off . Remove the inside rear freezer panel ( and ice maker if equiped ) , by removing 3 or 4 screws , pop off the grill piece , and may have to twist the ice maker receptical slightly , to remove . If you do not see the heater on ( red ) , below the coils , then the heater is most likely the problem . pt # WR51x464 . Your old one , has a glass tube , but the new one , is calrod . I believe 2 screws hold this heater on .. If the glass heater does come on , then the problem is the defrost timer ( the piece you turned with the screwdriver ) which is removed , by removing that black screw and bending the panel out slightly . Pt # WR9X520 .

Tips for a great answer:
Its defrost problem, the freezer should cool,
then freeze, then defrost cycle should start. In your case freezer is cooling,
then freezing, but its not defrosting. That's why fridge section is not

The defrost assembly
consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and
defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the
maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this
defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat
and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and
defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its
defrost board causing the problem. You can get required parts from
online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect
Before that you can
try manual defrost reset procedure. The manual defrost
reset procedure is as follows : ----First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit
completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected
on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the
water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power
outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and
freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling
cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. Then go for replacing the parts.-------------------This should
