the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Its a good possibility that your convergence problem could for now be cold solder connections on the driver ICs on the convergence board. The longer you use it the more of a problem its going to surge those ICs till they go bad and maybe cause other componet falure as well. If your not a technician i would have this set serviced asap before it becomes a major repair Good Luck

The set has 3 IC's(one for each color)strictly dedicated for the aligment of each color,if one them does not align is because is going bad or is already bad becuase picture can not be adjusted, the IC's can be identify because they are mounted on a heat sink and have the markings STK--- ---,they are all the same and need to be replaced with an exact replacement. If you are familiar with tv service you can replace them, sometimes the new ones need to be aligned from the service menu, you will need the service manual, soldering and unsoldering will be involved,If you are not too familiar be safe and seek the assistance of a servicer.

Techman, I have the following details into Service Mode: 15.1 Quick entry to service mode: TOP PREVIOUS NEXT When minor adjustments need to be done to the electronic controls, the method for entering the service mode without removal of the cabinet back is as follows, using the remote control: Select SET-UP icon, enter ?Program CH? and select CABLE mode in ?Input Setup? option. Select TIMER icon and set SLEEP time for 30 Min. Press ?OK? then VOL up to exit menus. Tune to the Channel 124. Adjust VOLUME to minimum (0). Press VOL ← (decrease) on receiver. Red ?CHK? appears in upper corner. To toggle between aging and service modes: While the ?CHK? is displayed on the left top corner of the CRT, pressing ?OK? and ?VOL? UP on the TV simultaneously will toggle between the modes. Red ?CHK? for service modeand yellow ?CHK? for aging. Press POWER on the remote control to display the service adjustment modes menu, select adjustment by pressing the VOL right/left buttons and CH up/down buttons on the remote and OK to enter the adjustment. Service mode menu TOP PREVIOUS NEXT Have you gotten this to work?

SOURCE: rca p56926 convergence problem
i have a 56 inch RCA Television , with the same exact problem
the tv is now about 12 years old and has been fixed twice for this problem.
RCA is aware of this problem and i fail to understand why they would continue to manufacture a product that is defective and could be unsafe.
you need a tech to look at it . soldering is fix or new board ,
i had two "L" brackets installed to keep the " plug in" board stable .. seemed to be the root of problem. these tv's don't like to be moved.
the tv is serviced by Thompson products U.S.A.
mine broke down right away. and even after three years and a second time . i complained to rca that for three grand i paid for tv ... it better work more than three years or they would be recieving a rather large paper wieght on the front door step.

this is a really hard question to answer due too there are so many things that could have gone wrong to cause this symptom. but to me if it just died without warning you may have a major problem with the motherboard, power supply or video processor. with these older projection tvs its almost always more expensive to fix than it is to replace. because of the parts and of course you have to have someone that has more than a little expertise in this area to fix them. that means you can easily get 500 to 800 + dollars into the repair of an older tv that at the end of its life and may not last much longer.
for 650 my son just bought a NEW 42inch insignia 1080p HD 120HZ LCD flat panel on sale at best buy. let me say I have a 61" projection magnavox that works fine but the picture quality on his when you set these two up next to each other his tv is amazing. so Im going to say if you think you want to try to repair it look around and get the best quote you can before the technician comes out. that will be 50-100 dollars right there and then they never have the right part on the truck to fix your tv in your living room so he must transport it to his shop. 2-3 weeks go by and he finally gets the parts and repairs it then there will be the bill which you must pay first before he brings your tv back that will include transport both ways a bench fee parts labor fuel and tax.
then you realize you could have bought a new one for $300.00 less ouch! If this sounds familiar my best friend just went threw this last year. also if you decide to get a new tv don't be afraid to haggle over the price my sons tv was originally $850.00 and he got it for 650.00 not bad. well I hope this helps some I know its probably not what you want to here but im trying to be honest where most people wouldn't. I hope I was a little helpfull if you have any more info on the tv that would help me diagnose your problem or I can be of assistance to you please let me know
