Question about RCA F27650 27" TV

1 Answer

Tv seems to be in widescreen

The problem is the TV seems to be in widescreen, however the TV is a basic 4:3, with no 16:9 option anywhere in the menu. We just turned it on one day and all of a sudden most of the left and right was off the screen. here is a picture I drew to try to describe the situation. This is a problem with the TV itself because the built in menu and numbers also go off the sides a bit.

You have a defective cap and diode in the horzontal section of the TV. This unit is best off sent to a tv shop where replacement cam be done for thr diode and cap are special components for the RCA

Picture too big so faces long and narrow, how must i zoom out to make pic smaller

If the image is tall and thin, then you've likely got your TV set to widescreen mode when it's not a widescreen TV. In your TV's menu, there should be an option to change between widescreen and normal, or one called "Aspect Ratio" and it'll give options like 16:9 and 4:3, change that to 4:3 if that's the option it gives you.

Turning off Closed Caption

Are you using a cable/satellite box or just basic cable service?
When you go to the menu what options become available to you?

If the following options are present-

If not try to press both the volume buttons on the front of the TV at the same time and see if the above options become available.
If so use the channel down button on the front of the tv to scroll to "cc"

Once CC is highlighted use the volume + button until it says CC off.

If these menu options don't become available please reply what options are shown.

Good Luck.

Lost remote and want to turn child lock off on a teac 76cm widescreen model no: EU3216STF

you will have to find out if you can acess the menu via any control on the tv itself,If this is not possible, then you will have to purchase a universal remote that will bring up your menu.

3 inches missing on both sides

Sounds like it is a widescreen TV stuck in standard view mode. Should have a menu option called widescreen or movie format.
Do you see the whole picture squeezed down or is it actually cutting off the sides of it?

Disable or turn 16:9 Enhancement off??

Hi have you got a button on the tvs remote that should change it like widescreen button you probably have looked but i am looking for manuall for your controll.
Usually its a button on the tv controll and should change it without acessing the menu option.
On most controlls it is labelled with exp for expand this should change the view from auto, 4:3, 16:9 have a look on controll for exp or sometimes labelled 16:9.
If you have manuall that list controll functions look and see if you can find it.
But it might just be that the telly dont give you this option.
Ill have a look and see if i can see manuall for your controll ill post back when i find anything ok let me know how you get on

Black bars on top and bottom of screen

It sounds as if you have accidentally entered widescreen mode. Explore the on screen menu to find the widescreen option & switch it back.

Letterboxing: The top and bottom of the screen are cut off I originally obtained this TV from my Bro who passed away from cancer at age 31 a few years ago & I was never able to find out what he did with the manual. However, I was able to find a manual online but after viewing it, I still wasn't able to find the info. that I am trying to obtain for the correct settings to get rid of these black margins at the top & bottom of the screen. I am trying to find out what video output format is supported by this TV model, as far as the resolution and output format, specifically for a Cisco or AKA Scientific Atlanta 500GB HD-DVR through Cox cable? My available settings with Cox cable & the DVR I have( Cisco or Scientific Atlanta 500GB model)are the following-Resolution:480i, with output format of either:Zoom 16:9 Pic or Letterbox 16:9 Resolution:480p standard, with output format of either:Zoom 16:9 Pic. or Letterbox 16:9 Resolution:480wide, with either output format of:Stretch 4:3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic Resolution:720p wide, with output format of:Stretch 4:3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic and finally, resolution:1080i wide with output format of:Stretch 4.3 Pic, Preserve 4:3 Pic or Sidebar 4:3 Pic? Everything worked fine with the screen size when I had a 160GB Motorola HD-DVR with Cox under the video output settings of:resolution:480i and video output of:Zoom 16:9 Pic until, I grew tired of constantly running out of space & had them switch me to a 500GB HD-DVR. They were supposed to install another Motorola HD-DVR but just with 500GB version but when the Cox maintenance employee showed up to swap them out and install the 500GD HD-DVR, he only had a Cisco/Scientific Atlanta 500GB available on his truck, which is I guess what they use for the Contour service but he attached a filter to the back of the coxial cable to make it a regular HD-DVR without Contour(even though they tried charging me extra for contour for 3 months before I finally got that straightened out since the maintenance workers & billing dept. are often not on the same page as I found out at Cox. I have tried calling Cox for support & they say that I need to find out & know my TV's video output settings. I explained to them that it worked perfectly fine just weeks ago with 480i resolution and output format of Zoom 16.9 Pic before they switched to the Cisco/Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR from the Motorola DVR and that I didn't have the manual and I stated why and they basically said, too bad, figure it out yourself. Can someone please help me out? I have the TV set up for the correct zip code, cable box-Yes, the cable box output channel-video 1/Aux (since that is what the TV manual I read online said to use if you are using the 3-color coded cables instead of the coxial cables to plug in from the TV to the HD-DVR) & I have the Cable box remote control code set to code 008 (Scientific Atlanta) that I verified to be correct by checking it through the TV's automated code search. The serial # for the TV is:C306B2084 and the Chassis # is:ATC113BB1 and its the 27" RCA Entertainment Series Guide Plus Gold Gemstar that is X-Box ready. Thanks so much, Todd
