When this happens, have someone listen under the car and see if the fuel pump is coming on. Either the pump or relay may be going bad.
An easy check for the relay is to see if there are any non-essential relays with the same # on them (like a fan relay) when your'e having the problem, temporarily switch the two relays. If this helps, then replace the relay. Before condemming the pump, replace the fuel filter (often neglected), and do pressure tests at fuel rail to see what you are dealing with. Note: it does not have to be fuel... A bad coil or crank sensor can do essentially the same stuff so, don't jump to conclusions before making tests!
good luck

get a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze .. if you don't already use it and add it to the gas.

P.S. in minus 40 i don't even get out of bed... minus 23 here last nite... isn't winter grand

You need to check components again when the engine is hot and in no-start condition, otherwise, you will get bad info...obviously whichever part is doing this works fine cold. ones that react most to heat are crank pickup, ignition coil and the fuel pump.(bad ones get hot and bind up)

P0505 means the whole Idle Control system, not only the IAM. Check all related sensors (i.e. crankshaft sensor). Check with a voltmeter direct at the connector of the IAM if you get any signal. Remove the IAM from the TB, connect him, let someone switch your ignition key to ON. The IAM need to drive in/out for a short time to find the right position. Hold the IAM near a hard part, that they cant drive out completely! If IAM works fine, check the fuel pressure, check and clean your TB ( if not done yet). If that doesn't work, come back again please
