Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I bought Fix-It Utilities 9 Professional on 2 Dec 08. I loaded my PC, and when the SN was asked I couldn't find it, thought that the SN was my PC's SN. This was not accepted, a Trial was offered, so I did that. It worked fine, and my PC speeded up. I was pleased. Today, 16 Dec 08, the trial period ended, I realized that the SN was on the backside of the disk's envelope, so I tried that, I also tried to reenter the disk, but without success. I did not buy a disk for $40.00 for only a trial period. I would appreciate your help, thank you.

Ordering disk

I had the same problem but with another item I needed, and when I called and asked they told me to only use the first part of the sn (basically use the sn you have but when it fills the allowable space simply stop at that point, they tell me the last part of the sn is not needed to order parts and disks, only for ordering exact replacements that is unique to a exact model.
Simply start at the beginning of your sn and when you cannot put any more of it in, stop and use only what you have entered.

How do i do a factory restore

If you have the original disks, just put in the disk #1 and it will walk you through it... If not.....
You will need to have an operating system handy such as windows xp or win 7.
You would
1. Format the drive to wipe it of all information
2. Load the operating system
3. load any drivers or specialty drivers for the sound, video, usb, lan, camera, and other periferials
4. download and update the operating systems of all of the security updates and update the antivirus definitions
5. download and install all of the add on utilities that are needed in todays world such as Firefox and Chrome browsers, Adobe flash, Winzip, Winrar, Quicktime, Realplayer, Divx video player and ac3 sound filter and many other utilities
6. Have fun.
So, how do you format a drive?
1. Reboot the system and hold down the F8 key as it boots.
2. A menu will appear. Choose 'start safemode with command prompt"
3. when the C: command prompt appears type FORMAT C:
4. The system will warn that all will be lost, type Y for yes and follow the prompts.
6. after it is done (about 30 min) put the Operating system CD in the drive.
7. Reboot the system with the disk in the drive.
8 follow the prompts and finish installing the utilities, updates, and utilities listed above
9. have fun

check your virtual memory. it may not be allocating enough space on your hard drive to properly run. also there's a screen for software compatibility. programs that used to run flawlessly on win 98 may not run on windows xp or vista.
