Hi,
Do you have any speakers or a fan (table top fan)  of any kind near your screen?
They may not be the shielded kind and may cause magnetic interference.
Have you checked your monitor cable to make sure that none of the pins attaching the cable to the monitor or the PC has been bent?
Please post here to let me know how this turns out.
Thanks,
Kaj

P191w

Hello,

The Acer p191w uses the same power supply as the Viewsonic VX1962wm that your problem is a well known issues with that power supply. The filter capacitors go out and that causes the power supply to shut down within a few seconds. The monitor is easy to repair, you will just need to replace the bad capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide for the Viewsonic VX1962wm and the information will be the same since the boards are the same in both units.

Acer lcd screen p191w makes a buzzing noise when turning on and the screen is very dim. then it shuts off. can this be fixed at home

Not safely and not unless you are confident and competent with electronics. I would put the dimming down to a failing display circuit, but the buzzing sounds as though a short is developing. I would take it to a tv repair shop who can advise better and maybe replace or repair the components

Acer P191W monitor does not fill up the screen

Try pressing the "Auto" button located by the power button. If that doesn't work, I have a few questions for you.
