The wd52525 has 2 antenna inputs. put the cable in the bottom one first (ant1) press menu, then scroll over to antenna, the scroll to ant1 and hit enter. if none are found repeat using ant2. if none are still found then the chassis is bad or you have no signal. try the cable on another set if it works then visit www.tv-tech.com

The channel search wont pick up any channels nor will the channel update but they work on my other TVs

You may have a bad tuner in this set, if the rear audio/video inputs work with a DVD etc you can get a cable box and connect to a rear input and bypass the entire problem.

If possible connect via one of the rear sets of audio and video inputs from the direct box--this is more common than using tuner in set.

Cable in my area has switched to digital cable. I own a Hitachi HDTV about four years old. When I scan my channels it will only scan analog channels...the digital channels are an option but I don't...

Unfortunately, you need a set-top box. The Hitachi 65F59 has an ATSC (digital OTA) and NTSC (analog) tuner. It doesn't have a clear-QAM (unencrypted digital cable) tuner.

There are a few DVR set-top boxes with QAM tuners that you can buy separately. (You will need to make sure a given model is compatible with your service. FIOS uses a different option on the Cable Card than other providers.) Alternatively, you can get a cable box from your company.

Retrevo has the manual for this Hitachi TV here: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Hitachi-65F59-TVs-manual/id/371ci977/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to access the PDF.

If you want OTA HD, you will need to determine the correct antenna for your area and the direction to the transmitters. (External antennas pick up more stations. In some areas amplification may be needed to get a good signal.) See antennaweb.org or tvfool.com for searches on the appropriate antenna to get a signal and where to point the antenna. Antennaweb assumes an external antenna but is very conservative in the received channel list. You would need to set the TV signal input to Air and rescan for channels if you choose to go with the OTA signal.

I wish that I had better news for you.

I have a RCA HDTV model# R52WH74. The cable company said all I needed was a digital box from them and a connector cable which I have. However the connector cable that fits into the digital box does not...

The cable company is always encouraging customers to rent cable boxes. It is hard to tell if a HDTV has a Quadrature Amplitude Modulation feature unless you ask at the time of purchase. Now the only thing to find out is to have it scan. Your TV has 2 RF inputs. You can choose one to hook up directly from cable source. Make sure to set up the right one for the input that you connect then let it scan. You will see something like channel 7, channel 7.1.... After that you have to make notes of what number is for which channel since it doesn't list out as what you have with a cable box. That is the inconvenience to watch without a cable box, but if you know what channel already then you can go straight to it without searching from remote.
I find out that cable box renting is a rip off. Another option is buy a new TiVo HD 20GB is selling now for 249.99 at Best to replace cable box legally and have all features just like cable box plus many more. However you have to pay TIVO service in order to record program. It still about the cost, but at least you know there is an option. Hope this can help.

I JUST GOT A D52W20 HD TV.I SCREWED THE CABLE CONNECTION TO THE ANTENA INPUT. THE ONLY STATIONS I GET ARE LOCAL CHANNELS BUT NO CABLE CHANNELS. WHAT DO I HAVE TO SET ON THE TV OR WHAT DO I HAVE TO PRESS ON...

Before you bought your new TV, was the cable connected to an older TV, and was it working?
When you say you screwed the cable connection to the antenna input, did the cable come directly from the wall, or did it go through a cable box first. If it came through the wall without a cable box, it's possible it's not an active cable account, and you're only getting over the air signals for your local channels (and nothing through the cable). Or, your cable signal might have been analog only, and with the transition this week to digital TV, maybe you're no longer getting the channels broadcast properly.
If you are a cable subscriber, then this problem should be reported to the cable company, and they can do further testing to see what's wrong with your signal.

Cable connector broke off of the television.

You can by an RFmodulator and a set of composite cables to get the cable signal into the tv provided you have audio and video inputs. You will then need to tune tv to the proper input to view.
Hope this helps you.

QUAM TUNER

Doubt it. We ran HD through our small CATV system using consumer grade modulators but could only get them on the AIR frequencies, as we had very limited bandwidth as we had to carry 64 analog channels plus digital HITS packages for our Motorola DSxxx series boxes. Try plugging the CATV feed into the ANT input and do an autoprogram, or tell the tv to look on the AIR frequencies when it asks if you have CATV or AIR. Worth a shot though.

I have an RCA television

Salutations mandi84,

It sounds like you may need to adjust what type of cable signal your TV accepts. Depending on how old the unit is there maybe a small switch near the cable input, or a option in your setup.

If its a switch your should have three options including STD, which is the standard setting which has adopted by cable providers.

In your menu you would be looking for an option for signal, or even a choice between Air, or Cable.

I hope this helps.

Weak Signal ..

Sounds like you have a bad tuner. The most likely cause on these RCA's is a loose RF antenna input connector. A bypass for now is if you have a VCR use it as the tuner and then connect it to the TV using the composite video inputs. If that faisl as well then you have a bad signal board.
