Re: installation

Do you have any operating system disks or restore disks, if so re-install with the restore disks and it will be just as it would have been, what operating system are you using, probably windows xp or vista, but most likely solution is to re install the OS, or try exploring any other options given by the error dialog.

Win 7 64 bit freeze when starting XiMeta's NDAS NetDisk. I'm using newest version 3.72 from Ximeta website.

I have the same problem. I don't have the right solution but I discovered a workaround.
The problem occurs everytime when I install a windows 7 update.
My work around:
  1. When Windows determines an update I disable the NDAS service with msconfig
  2. The update is installed without the NDAS service operational.
  3. After update I enable the NDAS service with msconfig
  4. I restart my computer. Then it freezes.
  5. After a hard reset, the computer restarts in Safe modus. I restart my computer and my computer works, till the next windows 7 update. Then I start again van 1.
Very suboptimal, but it works.

When i started my computer ther was only continious long beeping sound and nothing on my screen somebody told me that is my memory card is no good my memory card model is Legend 512 mb DDR400 then i...

The first possibility is your settings for your memory are incorrect. Boot into your BIOS and change the settings to the correct timings etc. (would be easier if I knew your exact motherboard and ram (memory) information).
Or it could be the ram is defective. Return it and get a new one.
If you want to be really sure your ram is defective. Go to this site and download and install to any of the available options then boot from it. Run a test on your memory (WARNING takes a looong time). Also, did you take the old one out?

Hope this helps and good luck.

How to use a SanDisk Ultra Backup USB 2.0 Flash Drive I wish to copy from my computer files all my pictures to save and take to use at other computers..Help, Thxs

connect the drive to the computer usb port. locate "my computer" in your start menu, double click it to view all drives. you should see a drive marked "Removable Drive something", double click it to open the usb drive. now leave that window open... Again, go to start menu, open "my Documents" locate and open "my pictures" now use the ctrl key in combination with your mouse to click on the folders or pictures you wish to move (keep the ctrl pressed while you select) they turn blue as you select them. Once selected use Ctrl and the C key at the same time to Copy the selection. now, go back to your removable drive window that is behind your my pictures window, click on the white area in the window and use CTRL in combination with the V key to paste your selection into your USB flash drive, now wait until its all done moving the files.... count an extra 20 seconds after its done before you remove the device to move to another computer. Please use "recommend"+ with your comments if you find this useful . cheers

Computer doesn't recognize drive

Okay , so there are some steps to figure out what is wrong with your external.

Firstly , if your computer makes a sound when you plug in your external , go to Start-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Disk Management , and see if your external drive is listed here with your local drives. If it is listed , right click on the drive and change the drive letter to make it appear in "my computer".

If your drive does not make a connection sound when connecting to your computer and also does not show up , please follow the next step.

Remove the hard drive from the casing if possible and install it in your computer case or another external case.If the drive works , the problem is with the casing and you can ignore the drive.

Now , if the problem is with the casing , there are still 3 possibilities.

  1. The USB cable between the drive and the computer may be damaged.
  2. The circuit board which connects your drive to the interface of the external may be blown.
  3. The power supply (if applicable) may have a blown transformer.
The latter is the easiest to diagnose , does your external light up at all when you plug in the power? If not , then this is probably your problem. On the bottom of the adapter is a label which you will be able to use to have a new adapter made at your local electronics shop and this will cost about $30 max. They will also be able to test the adapter with a clamp meter to see if this is really the problem and this should be free.

The second component you want to test is the USB cable. If you have a printer , swop out the cables and see if your printer functions normally. Most externals use the same connector so you should be able to test it in this manner. If the cable works go on to the last step. If the cable is defective , replace it with a new one which you can find for about $10 at most electronics and chain stores.

The last component to test is the circuit board. This is a bit of a grey zone as you probably won't be able to spot the blown component unless it failed really badly. With the casing already opened , locate the external's circuit board and check to see if you have any blackened components or fluids leaking from some components. If all the other components of the external worked perfectly , then this is the faulty part. It is not really economical to replace the circuit as most of the time it is out of production by the time you need to replace it and it still costs a lot even if it is available so if your drive is working perfectly when connected via sata or IDE on your computer , the best is to buy a new casing and place your old drive in the new casing.

A casing costs about $50 and you could get it at most tech shops and big chain stores like Best Buy.

I hope this solves your problem and please reply if you need more help.

Kind Regards

Hard Drive not detected

If you are sure that the disk is okay, then I do suspect it is a power problem. Laptop USB ports often can not provide as much power as desktop USB ports. If possible try using an external power adapter with the disk and see if that works.
You can try some other external hard disk troubleshooting ideas, but probably it is the power.

My Toshiba laotp's screen goes half blank help!!

Well try to boot into the safe mode.hit F8 on the startup and see if you get the same acreen. If its working fine in safe mode than you need to reinstall the video driver and that should resolve the issue. If it is still not working try connecting a external moniter. If you get the same display on the external moniter than its an issue with the video card and if you get a normal display on that than its an issue with the Laptop screen and you would ahve to get either of thses replaced by contacting the manufacturer.
Hope this helps!

Keyboard detection problem

if the kb works on another system then the ribbion is ok, right?, the port on the motherboard is broken, which is almost certainly integrated(soldered to the board with no wires in between) which means to replace just the port you need to get a desoldering tool and cloth and a soldering iron(do not use a gun, they are not as acurate when working with this small of a space) and of course some solder, not to mention the replacement part or a more seriously broken laptop with the same part that you can take apart, seems like a lot of work to resurect a laptop, i would suggest a new board, new laptop or get a usb kb, maybe one of those rollup ones they sell on so you can retain some of the protablity, then again since the onboard kb is not functional it just sorta becomes deskspace for an external one. the fastest cheapest fix would be an external keyboard, next time i would recomend knowing what you are doing a little better before working on a valueable system or any that you cannot afford to loose, I see people break the ribbion cables and connectors all the time when working on laptops, its usualy because they dont know how to open the clips on the connectors, anyways try to be more careful next time
