Re: lost maps off garmin nuvi 660
Please delete any MP3 files or extra vehicle icons on your Nuvi. The map file is 1 GB in size. There is a possibility that your Nuvi's directory is corrupted and/or there are hidden garbage files on the directory that are taking up your storage space. You can look for these using windows explorer but don't delete anything if you don't know what you are doing.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

The garmin does not have any space on it for maps, any additional maps are stored on a memory card. I don't see where garmin says the size limit of the card but in most cases unless it says SDHC memory card, then the max is a 2g sd card, I think the models 500 and over can use over a 2g card.,
Eventually managed to speak to a man at Garmin who confirmed that it was not loading any European maps because it didn't have enough spare memory to load them all. He said that he would email me instructions for freeing up sufficient memory, the email never arrived but I decided to delet all the voice languages that were no use to me and all the other language 'help' files and tried again - it worked.
At no point did I get a 'insufficiant memory' warning, which would have been very helpful, nor is there any guidance for how much memory will be required when embarking on the update. Take note Garmin...
Fixed. Called Garmin. It seems that version 4.90 FW on the Nuvi 350 (which came shipped on my 350) has a bug where it cannot communicate with the Garmin software either to update maps or update FW. Tech from Garmin e-mailed me a patch that I copied into the Garmin folder on the Nuvi itself, via USB and Windows Explorer. I then rebooted it; the patch installed itself which then allowed the unit to communicate with the map upgrade software and all is well. 2009 map update is now installed and the Nuvi is working fine again. Haven't tried upgrading to newer FW yet; will probably leave well enough alone.
The on board memory in your Nuvi 200 may not have enough free space to hold the map. You may be able to free up some space by deleting maps or language packs that you don't use. (Be careful to back up any files you are going to delete.) Or you can add an optional SD memory card to the unit to increase the storage capacity on the GPS.
Very easy to fix the problem. When you plug in the Garmin Nuvi 200 to your computer, two drives will show up . Go to the Garmin drive and click on voice file, delete all the languages except for the one you want to use (i.e. American USA), this will give you all the 37 Megs you need to download 2009 maps. Takes a while to download using the web updater that you need to download into your computer from Garmin, but I had no problems.
