I am assuming that dryers haven't changed a lot in the way they are made.
First, unplug the appliance for safety. Then remove the filter from the top, and remove the two screws that secure the machine top to the top of the filter slot. Lift the top: this involves a screwdriver wedged under the top 2-inches from the side on each side one then the other. There are clips that secure the top down in those locations. Some pressure on the screwdriver is required to make them release. Lift the top and allow it to rest against the wall behind the unit. There are two 5/16 hex head screws about 2-inched down from the top that secure the front panel to the machine. Removal of those will allow removal of the front, exposing the drum, belt, motor, dust, coins and things that have accumulated. There is a springloaded belt tensioner beneath the drum, it is not hard to reach. Remove the belt, then the drum, to make easy access to the motor. If the motor must be removed, you will need to unplug the connectors joining the wiring harnesses from the top to bottom, and remove the top. There is a fan on the motor shaft, and you will need to remove the back panel and a duct/cover to access the fan. It is possible that the motor is not at fault but something has instead jammed the fan. It wouldn't be the first dead rodent found there, and may not be the last. If there has been a dead smell around the dryer, you might try the fan area first. Re-assembly is mostly just a reverse of disassembly but it can be helpful to have a helper to hold the drum in place with the belt on while you put the front back on.. Hope this is at least helpful for you.

Whirlpool dryer makes a buzzing sound whey start button is pushed. sometimes it will turn on for a few seconds but most of the time it just buzzes.

The buzzing is probably the relay trying to start the motor. See if the motor has a capacitor, have it checked. If the motor is all clogged with lint, the start/run switch can get blocked. Clean out all that lint with a vacuum cleaner.
Check the tub bearing, and make sure the drum spins freely.

My dryer will only run if i hold in the door switch button and turn the drum while i hit the start button.

That is a bad sign. If the buzzing starts when you press the start button and stops when you release its almost safe to say that the motor has a dead short or grounded out and causing that to happen. You can check the start switch by getting a multimeter and with the dryer unplugged take the wires off the switch, place a lead on each pin and press the start with meter set for continuity. If it shows continuity when presed and stops when released your motor is shot and needs to be replaced.
Now if you press the start button and the machine starts to hum and continues to hum its possible that something has gotten caught in the blower wheel and binding the motor up. Depending on the make and model the location and access to it vaaries.
If you can turn the drum and then the dryer starts you have a bad motor. The way the dryer works is when you initially push the start button, electricity is sent to the start winding, or stator, of the motor. This will in turn start the motor turning. From there the stator will drop out of the electrical process and at the same time the run winding, or rotor, will take over and the motor will continie to run. Your stator is damaged, has a burn spot, etc so by you turning the drum, the belt around the drum is moved which is attached to the motor pulley. You basically take the place of the stator. Long story short, you have a bad motor.

Drum wont turn.pust start and hear a buzz but drun wont turn

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

When hitting start button, it sometimes buzzes, but fails to start. Can sometimes wait for a little while and try again, and it starts. When it buzzes, it will only buzz for a few seconds and then nothing.

it is either the door switch or start switch, this website will show you how to test both, Good Luck Tim:

probably has a broken belt, there is what is called a "Broken Belt" switch by the motor inside on the idler pulley tensioner for the belt,if the belt breaks this switch opens so the dryer wont run without the drum turning so as not to overheat and burn your clothes, replace the drum belt and you should be good to go

Drum will not turn and there is no heat.

This dryer has a circuit board that controls virtually everything. If it makes a buzzing noise when you press the power button to turn on the control panel, it's probably not going to be an easy fix. When you hire a professional, you avoid buying expensive parts that you might not need, such as a control board. If it makes a loud buzzing noise when you press the start button, it's possible that it could be a motor or belt problem. But again, I'd recommend a service call for this one.
