Finally, Finally, Finally, with no help from DELL
Try the following:
Go to START / CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE tab
Click on the DEVICE MANAGER
Go down to SOUND, VIDEO, and GAME controllers and RIGHT Click on SIGMATEL
Choose PROPERTIES.
Go to the DRIVER tab and Click on UPDATE DRIVER.
Answer NO to the Windows Update question.
Choose “INSTALL FROM LIST OR SPECIFIC LOCATION”.
Hit NEXT and then choose “DON’T SEARCH, I WILL CHOOSE DRIVER I WANT TO INSTALL”.
You will get a list of SIGMATEL DRIVERS.
UNCHECK the box that says “SHOW COMPATIBLE HARDWARE”.
Select INTELL,
Then Select “INTEL AC 97 AUDIO CONTROLLER”, XP replaces the SigmaTel diver with the INTEL AC97.
To reinstall the SigmaTel just select ROLLBACK DRIVER.
Thank you TOM
Regards,
Erik

I've had the Samson AH1/ HM40 Professional Microphone for less than a year. I've used it about 20 to 30 times on a gig, then it stopped working. The battery light blinks on ( to indicate that the mic turns on ). The problem is that the Microphone isn't picking up any signal. Any ideas to why this is happening. Around the time I bought the mic, 3 of my friends in the band bought the same microphone. ( all different channel frequencies ) All of our mics are broken! What is happening?

Ok...
My PC BSOD once and i tried to reboot the computer, and that was when the problem began.
My PC worked fine and i installed everything Dell gave me for cases such as system crush, and it was fine until i Skype with a distant relative and found out my Microphone was not working, even though it looked like it was in perfect condition and with an age not pass 4 months.
My OS is Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium and m PC model is Dell Inspiron. If you have a solution and willing to help, do not feel shy to contact me @ l.enning@yahoo.com.
Thank You,

If your microphone seems to work and then stop working during a hotComm session:
Turn the mic off and then on again.
If it continues to not work, close hotComm, wait 20 seconds, then restart hotComm.
If it continues to not work, restart your computer.

double click on the sound icon by the clock at the bottom toolbar
make sure that none of the things in there are "muted"
that was my problem after i accidently pluged my headphones into my computers mic jack.
it auto mutes the build in one if you do that!

I have heard of this verse 514 mic before but have never seen it yet,
but I'm thinking of a few things that might help you out. microphones does not
require drivers coz it basicaly plug and play, this is true for those analog mic that you plug into
your computer's sound card at the back but for the verse 514, its different, it
looks like a mic but the truth is that it is mic with a usb sound card
built in to it, and since it is a sound card, it is a separate device
hence needs separate drivers to make it work (default drivers by
windows or that of labtec if any), you'll know this by checking it from
the device manager or the sound and audio device options in the control
panel. Now you might need to make some adjustments on your windows
sound and audio properties or even in the voip program that your using
to specify which device, the sound inside your pc of the one built in
to the mic, should produce output and or receive input
audio/sound/voice. for step by step instructions on how to do this, you
may check it out from the microsoft site or the website of the voip
program that your using, if you want live support, try this number
1-877-787-8749, I forgot their name but these guys can help you out.

If you've exhausted all options and your TB1 still does NOT work or record ANY input level, try taking the case off and pulling out the 12AX7 vacuum tube for replacement.
Just like light bulbs, these tubes pop and go out. Depending upon how you store/care for/frequently use the mic, its well within range for this to happen.
It just happened to me. The cause? Power outage during recording. These mics are designed to pop the tube and not fry the mic. Same concept as a fuse system. But, the 12AX7 tube that's inside the mic(as well as the Presonus BlueTubeDP) is replaceable, can be ordered off the net or had locally. It's around $20. OR you can do your research, UPGRADE your tube and replace it with a better aftermarket version.

my microphone worked fine when I got my computer. I haven'y used it in a while and now it won't work. I don't remember changing any settings, but I looked at them just in case and everything looks fine. I also used different microphones in case it was broken, and they don't work either.
I have Vista, so does anyone know how to fix this??
Oh... and when I use the recorder I can see that the computer recognizes that there is sound because there are waves, but no sound.

this mic has been a trustworthy piece of equipment. all of a sudden, it just refused to work. unscrewed the grille and checked to see if anything came loose or something. everything looks secure. wires are all in place. what the hell! this things' never been abused...not even dropped! what up with that?
Comment by Guest, posted on Apr 15, 2008
The wires pulled out of the mic jack. I need to know the color code that corresponds to the pins so I can re-solder. Roland model DR-10
THANKS!

The wires from the microphone jack that connects to the transmitter were accidently pulled loose. Does anyone have a diagram showing which wires go to each post. Also, does the copper shield wire connect to any post?

my server is a windows 2003, and ive tested the microphone, its a labtec verse 504, but the microphone doesnt record sounds, it doesnt show that a sound has even been made! the computer knows its there, ive checked, its plugged into the right hole,i turned on the mic in the language bar, ive messed with the control panel, is the mic not compatible with the computer (or server) , or is there something i should turn on?
Comment by doyleman, posted on Dec 14, 2007
the microphone was working but FL studios would barely pick it up. so i downloaded the additional driver software and now it says that the microphone is available but not running. I've done mic test and it wont even pick up anything. during downloading the computer was warning me that the content that i was downloading was not compatible but i find that hard to believe because i have windows xp.
