Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Unable to pring 4 x 6 index cards from a Word doc.

I selected the 4 x 6 index card size paper. When I try to print, the image is portrait when it should be landscape. I would really appreciate a solution!

Thanks for trying to help. Meanwhile I went to HP tech chat and went also back and forth on possible setting solutions for the HP c6180 all-in-one printer I was inquiring about. The real problem turned out to be in the Microsoft Word document settings. When I started from scratch with new document setup and selected the correct format for 4x6 index cards, the printer settings with just a couple of resettings worked fine. I was trying to control all the settings from the HP solution center and my printer settings when the real issue was to be sure to set the Word document settings correctly in the first place. thanks again. Clearing credit card-sized paper jammed inside the printer
Credit card-sized and 4" x 6" sized paper must be loaded properly. If this media is not loaded properly, it will feed into the printer and will not exit. Credit card-sized paper should only be loaded in the ASF and in portrait orientation. 4" x 6" sized paper can be loaded in the ASF or cassette. But must be loaded portrait orientation.
If credit card-sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in the ASF and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.
  1. Turn off the printer.

  2. Load the same paper type that is jammed inside the printer in portrait orientation.

  3. Power on the printer.
The paper stock in the ASF will automatically feed the jammed paper from the printer.

  4. To resume printing, load the paper in portrait orientation.

If 4" x 6" sized paper was loaded in landscape orientation in the cassette and did not eject (exit), please follow this procedure.
  1. Turn off the printer.

  2. Open the rear cover.

  3. Fold in four a piece of letter-sized plain paper.

  4. Push in the folded paper until it hits the jammed paper.

  5. If the jammed paper is visible from inside the printer area, pull it out and proceed to step 7.

  6. If the jammed paper cannot be pulled out, push in the folder paper from the rear so the jammed paper is in between the feed rollers.

  7. Pull out the folded paper and close the rear cover.

  8. Power on the printer and confirm that the Alarm light is off.
The jammed paper should automatically eject.

  9. To resume printing, load the paper in portrait orientation.

At college we have a w7200, how can we print across the paper rather than down it, for example a panoramic image across the width of the paper and say 20cm high

Try selecting LANDSCAPE as opposed to PORTRAIT by using the proper print menu in your application rather than the simple print icon from most tool-bars.

You can usually find it in the FILE menus

Smaller items will only feed crookedly into the printer document

Check to see if you are feeding the envelopes and 4x6 cards/photo paper correctly.

Both envelopes and 4x6 cards must be loaded and centered on the paper exit tray (not inside the paper input tray).

    Printing envelopes:
    • Up to 15 envelopes can be loaded at a time.
    • The print side of the envelope faces down.
    • The envelopesare centered on the paper exit tray.
    • You print the envelopes with Landscape orientation.
    Printing cards:
    • Up to 35 greeting cards, index cards, postcards, or photo cardscan be loaded at a time.
    • The print side of the cards faces down.
    • The cards are centered on the paper exit tray.
    • You select Automatic, Normal, or Photo print quality.

    Printing on an index card

something else you might try is taping the card to a full-size sheet of paper, so the printer can push it through with ALL the rollers at the same time. not all printers have a roller all the way across, so index cards get snagged by one side, and they'll walk to the opposite side while they're printing.
