Question about Microtek ScanMaker 6000 Flatbed Scanner
I have a microtek scanmaker 6000 that for some reason when I open the photo gallery on this new computer and click on import from scanner it will not scan. When I open the scanner folder it says scanner is working properly and scanner ready. When I click test scanner it acts as if it is testing but nothing happens and then I have to turn it off and close out everything and start over to get anything. What have I got set wrong. Old computer was XP with service pack 3 and new computer is Dell with Vista.
First off, go on ebay and buy win 10, you can get it for under 10.00. Then find a compatible scanner. Check ebay and online sites.

SOURCE: Microtek ScanMaker 3630
I was able to used my ScanMaker 3630. Here are the steps:
1) Update your vista to service pack1
2) Update the Scanner by going to device manager then right click the device or scanner w/ ? sign then update.
3) Insert your cd, select the options to search the hard drive then vista will be the one to select the driver. Vista will select the win95 driver but don't worry it will work!

SOURCE: Scanner will not scan
that's the specific driver. download and install that. if you find that vista programs can now 'see' the scanner, but still don't 'know what the scanner is', then you can uninstall the driver again, and then go back to the exe. file and right click on it. Then click Properties. There is a chance that you will see a Compatibility tab. If you do, click that and choose XP compatibility mode from the list, press Apply, then ok. Then install it and reboot again.
If it still doesn't work, then either there is no Vista compatibility for your scanner, ie it's too old to use with anything later than xp, or you need to clean the pc and the registry up with something like ncleaner, which is free and a really handy program, i swear by it.
hope this helps
