Make sure that the paper is being inserted properly. Lift the cover to check. If that does not help, turn off the printer and lift up the cover where the ink cartridges are (they should have moved out of the way when you turned it off) and look at each end. You should see at least one or more wheels on one of the sides. Load in paper so that it is right under the wheels and turn the printer on. Go to a document and try printing it. Try looking and see if you see the wheels spinning. If not, then try looking for anything that might be jamming it and remove it. It should work then.

Cancel all pending printing documents, take all of pappers out of the printer, turn the printer off, put Only one piece of paper in the printer and turn it back on .... Try printing a document out now and wait to see if it picks it up. IF it works then you can put all the pappers back

This sounds like your paper feed rollers are jamed or stuck! remove paper feed tray and check rollers for blockage!

Its the clear problem of the gears which pulls the paper either they r blocked or they r cracked or worn out and needs replacement.try cleaning and servicing if that does not helps then replacement gear assembly.cost $25 plus service charge of the engineer.

I once had this problem. Check the feeder rolls for any paper that me be stuck or anything else, It turned out in mine that a hair had wrapped itss elf round the feed, and eventually jammed it. the clicking noise is the wheel trying to move but failing.

Try REMOVING the white caked up paper dust from the pickup roller located at the front of the paper tray. Next, clean the pickup roller with either 409 or Fantastic all purpose holdhold cleaner using a Q-Tip or a rag.

My Brother MFC-7820N has trouble picking up sheets of paper

Hi! I just recently noticed that the 7820N has an "extension" piece at the back of the paper tray. This extension should be pulled all the way out and the blue paper stop adjusted accordingly. Otherwise, the loose extension piece will slide out from the rear of the printer when the tray is slammed in, and the paper will not be where the the printer expects it to be.

Other than that, check that the pad at the front of the tray is clean, and that the plastic small roller next to it rotates freely. Also, try cleaning the rubber rollers that are located inside the printer above the tray with a damp cloth.

Will not pick up paper. It makes a loud clicking

Check the tab at the end of the paper tray, needs to be right on the arrow for your paper size, too tight won't allow picking up paper. If OK, take out paper tray and set on a table, the gear closest to the table has a flat area that needs to be level with the bottom of the tray or the table. If slanted up you need to bend the paper lifter bar under the front edge of the paper so that the gear is level again.

Brother HL-5250dnt - Clicking Noise and not picking up paper

You may have to use a true Brother toner cartridge as I have the same problem with me MFC 8500. If I use a compatible cartridge it clicks and if I use a geniune Brothr cartridge it does. Brother direct brought this to my attention.

Brother MFC - 7420: Paper will not feed!

Does it make the same sound if you feed the single sheet through the bypass with the paper drawer removed? I hate to say it, but your printer's paper feed mechanism may need replaced. Go to http://www.brother-usa.com/AskUs/default.aspx and ask Brother to diagnose this one; I think they'll confer with me and should be able to point you to a nearby Brother-authorized repair center. Let me know what happens!

Paper not feeding

Is this a top feed - that is paper loaded on top at the back bottom feed from a tray underneath? Top feed take one sheet of paper and gently push it down whilst the printer is trying to grab it. Tray feed - take tray out make sure no paper fragments are in the tracks and find a nail board and gently abrade the pick up rollers.
