Re: Does Orion STV2763 have a digital tuner, does it need...
The specifications leave little doubt; the aspect ratio of 4:3 corresponds to the standard we are leaving behind in Feb. '09 and there is no mention of 'digital tuner' or ATSC which is the designation for the coming HD all digital signals.
The taxpayer-funded program to bring converters to the people supplies a plastic card like a credit card that can be swapped for the lower end converters so they cost 'nothing.'
Well, unless you happen to be a taxpayer instead of a tax recipient.

A coupon 'eligible' converter from EchoStar seems to be a favorite because of the features it offers.

Hello You haven't given a clear problem post ebefore me. You have only give the model number and brand name of your TV only. Not give the model number of your RCA converter box. Yet i posts a solution to your problem, assuming that your RCA Converter box model number is " DTA 800B1 " The three digit setup codes for Orion TV with this RCA converter box are:
029, 189, 200 ok gopakumarg43
Your TV does not have a digital tuner. You'll need a converter box for digital broadcast reception. Remember that if you're on a cable system or using a satellite receiver, your TV doesn't need to have digital tuning. It's only if you want to watch off-the-air broadcasts that you'll need the converter.
According to the specs on that model, it does not have a digital tuner capable of receiving ATSC signals.
You need a converter to receive the digital signal and convert it to analog so that set can process it.
Unless you already have a 'black box' between your signal source and the Orion, you have never received 'digital' signals.
The dealer where you bought the set shoud be able to answer this question. They should be familiar with the local stations in your area.
If you were to call any of the local TV stations in your area, they may be able to advise you of who in your area is selling these converters if you do not want to go back to where you bought your set.
In the long term, you would be better off with a cable or satellite service for your set.
