Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I have a kenwood in car cd reciever which lately has been having a dodgy connection with the power. i have taken the dash out and made sure all the connections are good but it still wont turn on. although occasionally when i drive over a bump in the road it will turn on for the rest of the journey! any help would be much appreciated.

Ive had this problem before. it can be a couple different things but in my situation it was a faulty fuse. the fuse looked good but i changed it anyway. fixed my problem, maybe it'll work for you.

How can i set my reciever to power my amp

Hi, I'm not sure I understand your question, but the receiver has preamp outputs on the back. Connect these to the amp input using a stereo RCA cable. You must connect the amp to accessory power at the car's fuse box and use a fuse small enough to protect the wire. To size the fuse and wire, check the max power used by the amp. Use the blue wire from the receiver to "turn on" the amp. There is a connection on the amp for the head unit's blue wire. Make sure you connect the amp's ground with a wire as big as the power wire and make a solid connecting to the chassis. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Any time you upgrade your radio to an aftermarket you have to have the wire harness with it to connect to your dash.

Kenwood in dash reciever will not read compact disks or USB

The problem is definetely a fault in the Mp of the set as it is not able to process the data from the flash memory or the CD. If will be good to open the set and do a through check for loose connections, faulty ground or joints inthe main PCB. Remove dust and fix back, Also clean your optical lens and drive unit. Fix them back and check again . If it works you are lucky or else the main processor is faulty. Hope you try this Good day

did you hook up the power antenna or amp. turn On wire? make sure you should ha a wire that is to power an antenna and this is the wire that has 12 volts as soon you turn On your stereo and send 12 volts to your amp. but if you don't connect this wire, the amp will never turns On

Why wont my personal setting save for my Kenwood KDC-X493 car CD reciever? This is my 2nd aftermarket cd reciever and just like the 1st one I'm still having this problem.

Make sure you have the +12VDC and the Ignition leads hooked up properly.

If your head unit is pulling is power off of the IGN lead, it will reset every time you turn your car off.
