Look for a ,,Universal Battery Charger" like those ,,made in China" remove your battery pack from camcorder, and insert them in the charger. The charger is inexpensive and very useful, having two adjustable flexible contacts that fits to every possible battery used in cellphones, cameras and camcorders. In my country Romania, this universal charger cost about 5 dollars or 4 Euros.
The easiest way is by using a standard USB cable...plug the small end of the USB cable into your camera (located under the headphone jack) then plug the larger end of the USB cable into your PC or laptop. Turn on your computer & this will charge up your Vivitar 550.
You can read the specs of exactly what type of charger is needed, or just purchase it.
Vivitar DVR 550 was a well known model in the UK. but the company Sakar bought the Vivitar comapany out. However, the Vivitar site still exists, but not much support for the DVR 550 is provided. I would recommend e-amiling them by visiting www.vivitar.com
