STANDBY TIMER IS A CONSTANT FLASHING

This older model the light should blink at turn on for 10-15 seconds before picture appears.

The set is checking for certain voltages and other things---if any are missing it will not come up.

This is like saying car will not start--the Battery? Or?

Someone would have to go inside and check voltages first and then check to see if horz or vertical drive etc.

May be too old a set as some parts for it no longer available.

Red light on TV is flashing 5 times and the picture is blurry and shadowy

That usually means poor emmision on one of the tubes or an EHT fault.

The AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Hope that points you in the general direction.

I have a Sony KP-61HS10 and I replaced both of the CI's and the Pico fuses and when I plugged it back in all I get is a red flashing power light, what happened?

This is unfair! You said you have to go out and thats why you have closed the session, and for that you give me a bad rating in the live chat! That was really rude!

Tv Problem

Sony TVs generate an error code. The front panel LED (red) will flash anywhere from one to eight times which can isolate the problem circuit. It is not always accurate.

If you have a test meter which can read DC voltages and resistance in ohms, you can locate the problem area. If you lack the expertice to do so, contact a sony authorized servicer. If you have the ability, start by checking fuses on the "G" board ( power supply board) and the "D" board or deflection board.

A major problem area in this TV is the convergence circuit. There are six fuses around the convergence output ICs on the "D" board.

If any are open, replaces the output ICs.

When t.v. is turned on, black picture and no sound.

Usually when the fuse blows its due to a component being shorted and if you increase the rating of the fuse you can cause other components in the circuit to blow. The pop you hear was most like a capacitor on the D board. The D board is no longer available from sony as its listed as discontinued. You will most likely have to have a qualified sony service tech trouble shoot the circuits on the D board to locate the short as it will be outside the scope of a do it yourself type of repair
