Only the photographs and color text are giving me problems all of a sudden. The colors are shadowing each other and are not precisely aligned.

Got ya. Thought you knew. First time at this. HP Color LaserJet 2605. The printer has calibrated several times. The blank print is perfect, but anything with color, both photos and colored text are not aligned. It is a two page newsletter. I did a sample print from the printer and the black text and shades are perfect again, but the photograph is nasty. Hope the additional info helps.

It would be useful to know what you are looking at??  We know that you know but we don't.
Little stuff like what kind of machine? Brand? Model? Are you looking at:
A printout? Use the maintenance utility for aligning new cartridges or printhead
A monitor? If it's a CRT monitor, move your speakers away from it.

You may have to 'trick' the printer so you can do this; open the housi9ng as if you wanted to replace cartirdges, then, while it is in the middle, turn it off by pulling the plug so that the carraige does not return to its hiding place.Move the carriage as needed to wipe down the rod that carries the carriage assembly, then, only with a lubricant such as 'sewing machine oil' (3-in-1) sparingly apply some to the rod.
While you are poking around in there, use a good light and if you see a plastic band ~ 1/4 wide, running across the width of the printer (and threaded through the carriage), use a clean cloth or soft paper towel moistened with window cleaner, gently pinch the band with the towel and wipe it clean.

This band has very fine vertical markings that the printer uses to locate the carriage where it needs to go.

Dell v305 printer allignment problem

Hello Michelle,

You are using Dell Series 9 ink cartridges, correct?

If you unplug the printer from the wall and remove the power brick for 60 seconds, this will reset any error messages the printer has. I would then plug everything back in.

Power on the printer.

Open the printer(with the power on) and take out the Dell Series 9 black cartridge and then reseat it. I would then take out the color Dell Series 9 ink cartridge and reseat it. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page.

Any error messages?

black cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)
photo cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)

It's possible to get a Dell Series 9 ink cartridge with a bad sensor. I would take these back to the place of purchase for a replacement.

It seems like the processor is overheating. Maybe you need to spread out thermal paste on the CPU.

Only prints in yellow color

The printer must be able print all colors in order to execute the alignment. Part of the alignment process involves scanning printed colored (all colors including yellow) bars. See the web page below for a sample of the printout. I suggest that you clean the carriage and cartridge electrical contacts with a cotton swab moistened with water. If you still fail to get yellow, test the cartridge in another printer. ping me for the make of printer, anyways if it an HP series refer to the website below

I want to align printf()'s text in center.

printf("Color %s, number1 %d, number2 %05d, hex %x, float %5.2f, unsigned value %u.\n",
"red", 123456, 89, 255, 3.14, 250);
will print the following line (including new-line character, \n):
Color red, number1 123456, number2 00089, hex ff, float 3.14, unsigned value 250.

The printf function returns the number of characters printed, or a negative value if an output error occurs.

for further inf u can see.

I cant type on microsoft word

Press the INSERT key on your keyboard while in Microsoft Word and see if that helps. I would also check the text color because if you turn your text color white, it will look like you are not typing anything but the text color and the background color are the same so you can't see your text.

We have a canon MP610 printer scanner combo, I work in a dentist office and am trying to scan a x-ray. When I do it is'nt picking up the detail very well at all. I think I need to adjust the settings but I...

the only way to get a little more detail out of this printer with x-rays is to INCREASE the DPI resolution. there are no other adjustments that are abailable.
The Scan Settings dialog box opens when you click Specify... on the Scan/Import Documents or images screen.
The Scan Settings dialog box allows you to specify advanced settings for scanning.

Document Type
Select the type of document to be scanned. To scan photographs, select either Color Photo or Black and White Photo. To scan text documents, select either Color Document, Black and White Document, or Text(OCR). To scan magazines, select Magazine(Color).
Document Size
Select the size of document to be scanned.
Auto Detect: Detects document size automatically.
Auto Detect(Multiple Documents): Select this when scanning multiple documents at one time.
Select Stitch-assist to scan the left and right halves of a document separately and combine them back into one image.
Reference See the section below for details.
Scanning images Larger than the Platen (Stitch Assist)
When you select Custom, a dialog box in which you can specify the document size opens. Select a Unit, then enter the Width and Height and click OK.

Important When you select Auto Detect the position or size of the image may not be scanned correctly depending on the document. In such a case, specify the document size, such as A4 or Letter according to the document to be scanned, and align a corner of the document with the corner at the arrow of the platen.
When you select Auto Detect(Multiple Documents) allow 3/8 inches (1 cm) or more space between the edges of the platen and the document.
If not, some images may not be scanned at the correct positions and sizes.
You cannot select Auto Detect(Multiple Documents) or Auto Detect when Document Type is Text(OCR).
Scanning Resolution<<<<-------------------------------------------------------------<<<<<<<<<<
Select the resolution at which to scan documents. The following scanning resolution can be specified:
Text(OCR): 300dpi, 400dpi
Others: 75dpi, 100dpi, 150dpi, 200dpi, 300dpi, 400dpi, 600dpi
The higher the resolution (value), the more detail in your image; the lower the resolution (value), the less detail. At high resolution, scanning takes longer and file size becomes larger than usual. See the section below for details on resolution.
this should answer your question , feel free to post here agian if you need more help.
Regards, and thank you for using fixya.
