HE4 dryer push buttonfor any cycle nothing happens

I had the same problem and eventually none of the cycle buttons light up or the cycle time display. So it would not run at all. After taking it apart once and fiddling with the cycle push buttons, it worked for one load then would not work again. I could see 3 of the led faintly illuminated and unplugging and plugging back in the power changed nothing. Then I removed the plastic ring of cycle buttons that is between the panel circuit board and the outer plastic. (There a several layers to get to the ring.) Now I use a long allen wrench to push on the switch on the circuit board. I left the middle start button in place. That does not seem to cause a problem. Several loads now and still working. So it looks like the ring on plastic buttons don't release from the circuit board buttons causing a problem.

This usually works to unlock the E1 code

To unlock the Control Locked feature:
Press and hold the End Of Cycle Signal buttonfor 3 seconds to turn this feature off.
NOTE: When the dryer is running and Control
Locked light is on, the dryer can be stopped by
pressing the Pause/Cancel button, but cannot
be restarted until the control is unlocked.

to enter the cleaning cycle:
Select the RINSE & SPIN button.
Select Low SPIN SPEED'
Select Warm/Cold WATER TEMPERATURE.
Select the 2ND RINSE Option.
Push the END of CYCLE SIGNAL button 4 times within 5 seconds to start cycle

I have a feeling you are buying a timer board.

The Thermal fuse is most likely the problem.

The door switch is not closed or the board is not sensing the door is closed.
Push in at the top of the door to make sure it is latched at the top.
This is a common problem on the HE4's that was not a problem with the HE3's. We are hearing from Kenmore and Whirlpool that a fix is coming, a different latch I think.
Even if pushing in at the top makes it work, call for service so the problem can be addressed.
