Try unplugging it @ 2 mins. and plugging back in. If that does not work, what kind of operator do you have?

Try opening the case and looking to see if there is a white plasic powder in the bottom of the case. if there is you will have to replace the gears #41C4220A.

If the motor is running and the chain or belt isn't moving, you have a broken gear in the opener.

I have a Sears Crafstman Garage door wireless opener. Model 139.53615SR . The door hums but nothing happens. The chain doesn't move. The springs on the door broke last year and i replaced both of them....

My plastic gear stripped soon after a spring broke. I think the broken spring put a huge load on the opener that day and ruined the gear. Replacement wasn't too hard. It will be obvious when you remove the cover if the gear is stripped. Here are instructions:

You have a stripped drive gear. Remove the cover from the motor unit and you will find white sawdust all over. The part number for the gear kit is 41A2817 and is available at any good door opener service company. It comes with instructions.

Motor hums but door doesn't move. If I disconnect door and give chain a horizontal poke, it will move. When I reconnect door it returns to humming, without movement.

Chamberlain powerdrive door opener will not move. moter hums but chain will not move

CHECK TO SEE IF HE TRAVELER IS AGAINST THE BOLT ON THE RAIL. IF IT IS YOU WILL NEED TO LOOSEN THE CHAIN / BELT TO GET IT TO MOVE THEN ADJUST THE TRAVEL LIMIT SO IT GOES UP / DOWN LESS AND DOESN'T HIT THE BOLT.

HOPE THIS HELPS

I have a Sears Craftsman 1/2 horse garage door opener. When I push the button, I can hear it hum, but the chain won't move and it seems the sprocket is frozen?

If your door is stuck in the open position you will find the trolley is jammed against a bolt just in front of the motor unit. Remove that bolt and run the opener until the door closes. Now locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn it 2 times in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Replace the bolt.

My Liftmaster garage opener won't go up, only down. It's not bound mechanically. I just replaced the shaft assembly because the old one broke. But since I've done that the garage only goes down, it won't...

BE SURE YOU HAVE THE CHAIN/BELT INSTALLED PROPERLY.
IF THE DRIVE IS AT OR NEAR THE UP LIMIT SWITCH THE DOOR CAN'T GO UP.
LOOSEN & REMOVE THE CHAIN/BELT.
TRY RUNNING THE OPENER TO BOTH LIMITS - JUST TO SEE IF IT WORKS.
RUN THE OPENER TO THE DOWN LIMIT.
MOVE THE TROLLEY TO THE CLOSED POSITION - RECONNECT CHAIN/BELT.
HOPE THIS HELPS

You should check the gears inside the box, After years , the gears get dry and die, you can by online or from Sears the kit and replace the old gears. I just changed mine...not too difficult :) .
