    Hi,

    1. Have you ever been able to access your cd/dvd player on your notebook?

    2. So if you open "My Computer" you do not see the CD/DVD drive icon there either?

    3. What kind of notebook is this?

    4. Did you recently install any CD or DVD burning software or image mounting software on this laptop?

    5. What operating system are you running? Windows XP or Vista?

Please post your answers here so that we can get this solved for you.

    Thanks,

    Kaj

Make sure these items are installed & working previously. Cables attached. Check control panel to see if they are present. If they are indeed there, r=try to reinstall the drivers, reboot & try to use them.

Can i use any dvd writer driver in a gateway 4026gz

This may be a better and much cheaper solution:

You can buy any brand of external CD/DVD writer and connect it to your notebook with a usb cable and it will work perfectly. You notebook should even install all the drivers it needs to run automatically. Just download a great FREE program called Imgburn and you can be burning CD's and DVD's in no time.

You can get a good deal on external CD/DVD burners here:

My cd/dvd driver is not working on my hp notebook

Go to HP's support website, find your laptop, and get the missing driver, or find out what brand your cd/dvd drive is and go to the manufacturers website to get the driver. I hope this helps!

I need to find out what type of disc to use with our dvd burner

The specification of the DVD drive for the Aspire 5930 is
  • Type DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM / HD DVD-ROM - Integrated
  • CD / DVD read speed 24x (CD) / 8x (DVD) / 1x (HD DVD)
  • CD / DVD write speed 16x (CD) / 4x (DVD±R) / 2x (DVD-R DL) / 2.4x (DVD+R DL)
  • CD / DVD rewrite speed 10x (CD) / 4x (DVD±RW) / 3x (DVD-RAM)
This means you can burn CDs -R and +R type disc (incl R/W)
Burn single layer and dual layer DVD -R and +R disc (incl R/W)

Data disk read as blank disk

This may be a reading media incompatibility problem. This does happen with some DVD/CD players. This usually mentioned in the owners manual of the product. You can try looking under the instructions for the operation of the DVD/CD player in the manual. If you cannot find the information there, you can try using the internet search engines for the make and model number of your notebook and the type of DVD/CD discs you are using. Use the search engine for known problems with the use of the media with your type of notebook DVD/CD player. You can also call Lenovo customer support telephone number 1-877-453-6686. Give them the model number of the notebook and ask them for assistance with the problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

Laptop hp dv6000 will not recognize cd burner/dvd player

HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop PC
Did you 'turn off' the AUTOPLAY feature of the CD\DVD ? When the player "runs two times at startup", it is trying to find the program on the disc.2nd- Look in internet for HP dv6000 cd\dvd drive replacement.(If that is the ""exact match for the product"" you wrote about)
3rd.goto CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and look up cd\dvd and uninstall it. REBOOT, when your system comes back it will try to find the cd\dvd. If it does not, it is damaged (kaput!), must be replaced. If Windows finds the cd\dvd drive and reinstalls the drivers, but it does not work, then the heads are dirty or damaged. That Windows found the dvd\cd means that the circuit on the device works.

My teac dvd/cd player wont play some cds

Probably a codec problem on the notebook. rather than a drive problem. Try a 3rd party media player such as Real Player or Quicktime

check in my computer if theres a cd/dvd near with drive C: or D: etc...
if not there, you reboot the laptop and press F2 to bios setup and check the cd/dvd setting if detect,if not, hardware problem...if it is detecting and not showing in windows, theres a virus in the regestry,i think so..try to scan..if not come...format..finish

My dell inspiron4150 notebook is my problem

Trying this should sort it, if not a drive fault:- Right click My computer>properties>device manager>hardware, then on CD/DVD devices line, click '+' sign then right click on your CD drive and click uninstal. Re-start your notebook and Windows should find it again and install drivers automatically. Try a cd in see if any better. Please rate solution
