Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop
I switched the hard drive from my old computer to a faster machine. Now the machine will not load the OS. When i tried to enter BIOS the machine had a password on BIOS. How do I reset the password?
The manufacturer defualt password is 'dell' so you can try that. Otherwise reset the cmos chip by following the instructions in your motherboard manual. The reason it will not load is that when most os's install,. they install the neccesary drivers and software for the hardware present. Moving the harrdrive will not generally work. Your best bet is to back up all the data on your old machine to dvd etc and then format the drive and complete a re-install.

I think probably the easiest and safest method for you is remove your Windows Password with Windows Password Seeker. I found it at about.com PC support channel last week, and then I download it from http://www.passwordseeker.com and used it to remove the lost password within 5 minutes. Besides, the helpful tool no need to reinstall Windows OS. It is worth an attempt.
