Yes!  It is not very powerful, but the blower serves to move heat away from the heat coils and toward the work.

While thawing ice from rain downspouts, gun shut off. Gun did not get wet. Waited 3 days and gun will not start. Is there a reset anywhere inside gun? Any suggestions? Thank You

Just a wild guess. The heat gun has a thermal cutoff switch just like a hair dryer that will interrupt the voltage when the temperature gets too high. That temperature can get too high if you get the output nozzel too close to the work area and heat builds up inside the gun and operates the thermal switch. Usually the spring loaded thermal switch will return to normal after the switch cools down. apparently not so with your gun. The spring either broke, jamed or the contacts on the switch broke. You can use a multimeter to check this out, or temporarly jumper around the switch to see if it will turn on, but do not leave the jumper on too long as that is sort of dangerous.

8975 does nothing, voltage out of switch but does not heat up or blow air

I have 4 dead MW heat guns with the same problem. The most common problem is a blown fuse in the heating element assembly which prevents the circuit from being completed. It is attached inline with the Red wire. Test the fuse with an Ohm meter, then use a jumper cable to temporarily jump the fuse. The fan and heater should then work. Replace the fuse and you will have a working heat gun

I have a car power inverter rated at 800 watts. Is this enough for this device? What wattage would I need in order to use this?

Your 8975 is rated at 120 Volts 11.6 amps and will consume approximately 1390 watts.

I can tell you that an inverter will eat your battery and put lots of strain on your charging system. I dont know what your application is, but I wouldn't rely on my car battery to run this device to defrost the window or heat the car.

You can purchase the parts from an online tool parts web site. Or you may wish to go to the Milwaukee tool website. They have a listing of local service centers that may have the part.

Heat Guns Troubleshooting

Uses for the heat gun include: * drying paint or varnish - 30 to 130 °C - care has to be taken as dust particles may be blown onto the paint/varnish. * drying out damp wood (before filling or painting) - around 100 to 200°C. * softening adhesive (such as when applying worktop edge trim or lifting floor tiles) - 300 to 400°C. * bending plastic pipes - 200 to 300°C. * heat-shrinking plastic film - 200 to 300°C. * welding some plastics - 330 to 400°C.
