Question about Kodak EasyShare Thermal Photo Printer

Inside spindle does not pull paper through in either direction

The roller that should pull the printing paper through the printer somehow does not connect with the paper itself. It has worked in the past, but now it doesn't.

Try mooving the rollers wheels with your fingers, if this does not fix the problem, you will need to have the printer taken apart to fix the problem.

This is a common problem on printer, the springs that push the paper traction wheels get weak in time and the wheels do not have sufficient pressure and grip on the paper to pick up the sheet.

See if you can reach the paper feeding wheel and try moving it or pushing it up and down. If this does not work, the printer must be taken apart to fix the problem, in this case you will need to take it to a repair shop.

I always recommend that paper jams be removed in the direction the paper would normally travel. Forcibly removing jams generally will not damage rollers, as the hardware tend to cause paper to tear before anything breaks. Removing paper jams in the wrong direction however can break one-way "finger" paper path sensors occasionally. If you are not experiencing a jam every single print, you are probably in good shape.

As for cleaning the rollers, if you have taken the rear door off the printer you are halfway there. You should be able to turn the rollers in one direction or the other by hand. There are plenty of products out there to clean rubber rollers (I use Blow-Off Rubber rejuvenator) but rubbing alcohol on a cloth can work as well. Turn the rollers to get at the entirety of them and scrub along the length with an alcohol dampened rag.

Says I have a paper jam, but can not find any paper in the machine

Hi, If you have ever operated a printer, you have experienced a paper jam. At some point, some piece of paper has loaded off-kilter or wadded up inside the rollers. In most cases, removing the jammed paper and getting the printer working again is relatively easy.

Step By Step

1. Verify that you have a paper jam. Sometimes the printer will send you a message that there's a paper jam. Sometimes you get the message from the crinkling, squealing sound the printer makes as it jams.

2. For most consumer models there will be only one sheet of paper threading through the machine at a time and a straightforward path from the paper feed to the output tray. In that case, you will want to search visually. Look to see if there are pieces of paper sticking out where you can see them. For larger commercial printers, where the paper path is more convoluted, you will need to consult the paper jam status message for hints of where to look.

3. Remove any paper from the paper trays that you suspect might have caused the paper jam. If a sheath of paper might prevent you from getting at the jammed paper, then remove that too.

4. Most consumer printers have an access door in the front that you can open to get at the jammed paper. With laser printers there's usually a toner and drum unit that slides out for improved access. If you still can't see the jammed paper, check if there's an access hatch in the back of the printer.

5. Gently remove any crumpled paper you might find. Gently tug on any pieces of paper that may be stuck or crumpled between rollers. It's possible that yanking the paper too hard in the direction opposite the normal direction of travel could wreck the printer rotors or some other delicate part. Whenever possible, pull the jammed paper in the direction of normal motion through the printer and avoid using excessive force.

6. Avoid ripping the paper as you remove the jam. Pull the paper slowly with both hands. Any shredded piece of paper stuck in the rollers will cause yet another paper jam. While you're at it, check for foreign objects that may have caused the paper jam in the first place, such as a paperclip or a pen cap.

7. Laser printers sometimes get the paper jammed so deep in the fuser unit that you can't reach it with your fingers. In those cases you want to avoid poking at the paper with sharp metal objects. Scratching the rollers could permanently damage your print quality. Removing an accordioned paper jam may involve disassembly of the fuser unit by a trained professional.

How do I remove a strip of paper stuck in output rollers just past the fuser on an HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

Hi....you can remove it by lifting the top cover....if you see the printer in the back side...at the very top where the paper guide is....you can see two little holes one in each side....with a small flatt screwdriver...insert it in each hole and release the tab inside and lift the cover.
Then remove four silver screws (not always silver but there are only four screws) and remove the cover....you have now enough space to work on removing the jamed paper.
I hope this can help.

The printer won't print, it's trying to pick up the paper inside

Pull out the paper tray, at the front of the tray, there's a translucent roller in the middle. Remove the roller and clean out any waste paper dust inside & wipe clean the roller before putting it back.

Dell 1720 printer prints crooked i.e. left margin is not parallel to edge of paper

most likely you have a bad pick-up roller. it is inside the printer directly above the paper tray. this is one reason the paper would pull in an angle.

I try to print and the printer just prints the first of several pages and the online/error red led comes on.

Try to pull the paper tray out and clean the feed roller inside with alcohol or water.Usually, paper dust on the feed roller causing it to slip during paper feed and printer jams.

E240 LEXMARK WON'T PULL PAPER FROM TRAY 2

Try pulling out the tray and looking for the feed rollers that pull the paper up into the printer. The 2 rollers should have rubber "shoes" on them (they look like thick black rubber bands). Remove these roller "shoes", turn them inside-out, and put them back on the rollers. This worked for me, maybe it will work for you too.
