I have windows xp compaq desk top, with a optical wireless mouse 3000. It was working perfectly and all of a sudden it doesn't work. I've tried plugging it in and other usb and ports. I've tried turning off the computer for a few hours. I've tried different troubleshooting that failed and now i'm frustrated! Any suggestions will help. Anything please!

I had this same problem - if you go into the Windows Device manager and the mouse shows up, then you need to open up the properties for the mouse, and click "Update Driver" under the Drivers tab. Chose "Manual", then "From a list". Choose the one that has "logitech HID compliant" in the name. Let windows install the driver, then your mouse should work

If the USB mouse is not detected by Windows after plugging in the device and installing the software, please try the following:
Cordless Users: In some cases the cordless USB receiver is detected correctly and all this is needed is to re-sync/connect the receiver to the mouse. Verify you have fresh batteries installed or if your device is rechargeable, that is has a good charge. Now press the connect button on the receiver, then press the connect button on the button of the mouse. If the USB mouse still does not function or the pointer does not move, continue with the rest of this document.
Basic Troubleshooting:
Do a safe shutdown of the system by selecting Shut Down from the Start Menu. Make sure to power the computer off and then restart it.
Try connecting the mouse to the second USB port, if your system has one.
Try connecting the mouse to a second system with a working USB port to verify the USB mouse hardware is working. Any Windows XP, 2000, ME, or 98, system equipped with USB should detect the mouse.
Try connecting a second USB pointing device into the same USB port. If the second device is detected correctly, then the mouse may be defective. If the second device is not detected correctly, then the USB port may not be enabled or functioning correctly. You may also verify the USB mouse is functional by trying it on a second system. If it fails on a second system then the mouse maybe defective.
If you are using a USB Hub, Docking Station, Switch Box, Port Replicator, or extension cable to connect the mouse, try connecting the mouse directly to the USB port on the system to see if that has any effect. Please also note that while this may work, Logitech does not support these types of devices. Logitech only supports our mice directly connected to the system ports.
Uninstall the software using the "Add/Remove Programs" Icon in the Windows Control Panel. Look for MouseWare or SetPoint, depending on your mouse. If your USB hardware still does not function using the native Microsoft drivers that are provided on the Windows CD, you may need to check with the vendor of your system for a possible USB hardware driver update.
Try updating your USB Chipset. To find the manufacturer of the USB chipset you system is using, look in the Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers, as described below.

I have the exact same problem. For several months the mouse operated perfectly. Then it stopped working entirely. I replaced the batteries, reinstalled the mouse and then NOTHING. It will not work at all. The LED's flash on the USB connector as well as the mouse itself, but no action. I would appreciate information to make this mouse work again.
Thanks, Dwight in Montana
