Question about Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Terrible noise when I vacuum some of my carpets

I just recently purchased the DC07 Animal from Costco. I have hard wood, marble, and large area rugs to vacuum. I have been more than please with the performance except for the floor settings. When I set my vacuum for carpet it makes a terrible hacket on and off. It also requires such force to move the vacuum it feels like I'm going to dislocate my shoulder pushing it around.
I have read the manual and I do not see that I am missing anything. Can you offer any suggestions.

That is the clutch you are hearing and what it is doing is jamming up. Check for anything jammed in the brush, if not you may need to take it in for service to have that replaced or the object is lodged in the clutch itself.

There are 2 powr buttons how does the one with the brush pic workpurchased a dc 25 from costco

Hi there,

As you've noted, there are two power buttons on the DC25. The red button is the on/off switch, whilst the silver button turns the brushbar on and off. The brushbar should be switched on when vacuuming carpet, but off when vacuuming hard floor surfaces and delicate rugs.

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, please refer to the user guide supplied with your cleaner. If you'd prefer to speak to one of our experts directly, you can call us free on 1866MYDYSON.

When in carpet mode, brushes seem to be hitting something. Brushes cleaned - how to stop making the awful noise

LOL do you mean when you move the vacuum forward (say into a baseboard)? it makes the loud shocking noise.. i hate that too.. but that's the crazy Warning sound indicating something is stuck (like you sucked up an area rug) or you have run into something and it set off a sensor.

Older Dyson 07 Animal, loud ratcheting noise on carpet setting

That is an indication that the belts are worn, stretched or broken. You simply need to replace the belt. Here is a link to the belt(s) you need and a manual you can view:

Roller brush stops spinning and vacuum makes noise. Brush will spin normally ok, until you use it on the rug.

That means that the belt is stretched and can't turn the brush against the resistance of the carpet. Here is a link for the instructions on how to change the belt and a link for the belt you need:

Hi my dyson dc07 animal has suction but the brush bar wont turn. If I turn it on there is a horrible noise. The belt is still fine

The belt is probably worn or stretched. When this happens the belt won't turn the roller brush when it is against the carpet. Here is a link for the manual and links for the belt you need:

Hoover makes terrible screaching sound when using upright.

It's most likely the bushings/bearings in the beater bar (roller). The beater bar cover is fairly easy to remove -- take it off and investigate. Could be that the roller only needs lubricating on the ends. Also, check the belt to see if it's intact or damaged.

Clean area thoroughly.

If this is not the problem, please, let me know.

Beaters stop when vaccuming rug...didn't when new

I believe you need to change the belt that drives the brushes. When it gets stretched out, it will just spin on the axle of the motor or spin on the brush and smoke.

Noisy on rugs!

Are the rugs long haired or short haired? Most likely the suction is just causing the noise when it picks up the rug and the buzz saw could be the beater bar hitting the rug then. I actually own a DC14 and it does the same thing and the rugs like to be dragged along. Nothing really to fix this, just the way it is. You could try it with the beater bar raised and see how well it works then but this sounds normal.

Have a good day
