My laptop wireless is connecting and the connection is good but when I try to access any site through either IE or Firefox, there is no connectivity.

Full connection, but the browers aren't working. I tried a reset to the router, and we have another computer in the house that is fine.

Thanks for that last, but no luck. It dropped my connection and reinstated it, but nothing regarding the browsers. (though can I assume now that there is no IP conflict?)

I had the same problem a couple of months ago I tried everything, then I found out online that it was my router setting affecting it, the solution was to reset the router factory setting otherwise, it just reset but kept the same problematic setting. That should solve the problem

I had the same problem a couple of months ago it turns out it was indeed the router, I'm not sure what the setting in there was that created the problem, but the solution was to reset to factory setting and that fixed it, I understand that this problem is common with d-llink routers, but I suppose it could be others as well.

    Hope that helps.

Are you at your home wireless?

Hold down the reset button in the wireless router for 30seconds this will restore it to factory defaults, the network will be open to anyone who is close enought to your house but internet should work instantly. I recommend that someone reconfigures some security into it.

Hi there, Before we start, try hooking your laptop up directly to the modem - if you're not getting an internet connection there, call your Internet Service Provider. If you are, then follow the steps below.
1) Make sure that you're not using more than one router at the same time. One router should be hooked up directly to your modem in the WAN port. If you have wireless security enabled, go to step 2 2) As a test, remove the security on your wireless network and then see if you can access the internet properly. The router can be accessed by typing it its address in internet explorer, as long as you are connected to the router. Generally the address is 192.168.1.1 3) If you still can't access the internet, go to Internet Explorer Options, the Connections tab, LAN settings, and make sure "use a proxy server" is NOT checked. 4) If you DO get an internet connection now, go back to your router and enable WPA security (some older laptops have problems with WPA2 connections).
If everything doesn't work, post back with some more details! Alex

1. Go to the Wii settings page on your Wii - it's on the bottom left hand corner of the home menu
2. Scroll right until you see the Internet option then select
3. Select Connection Settings
4. Clear all your previous internet settings, or select one of the three presets that says none
5. Select wireless connection then search for an access point
6. Select your wireless connection name (SSID) from the resulting list
7. input the password for it if you have one then follow the onscreen instructions

Hope this helps!

You may need to clone your MAC address, a unique address is for each device connected to a network. Some internet service provider (ISP) modems quit working if the MAC address of the device connected to its Ethernet or LAN jack (i.e., your computer) changes from the one used when it was first set up. So when you hook up a new router to share the connection, you run into the problem you have.

Cloning the MAC address in the router sets it to the same address as the device connected to its number 1 wired port. Since you didn't give the brand and model of your router I can't give you specific steps or links to follow for the process. But it's typically very simple. From the computer originally used to set up your modem, access the router's setup pages. On the appropriate page, pick "clone MAC address" from a menu or click on a button. You can search for "<insert your brand of router here> cloning MAC address" and find many sites with how-to information. A good starting point is always the router manufacturer's site, where there is probably already an answer in their support FAQ section.

Once the router MAC address has been cloned, you should have your Internet access back and will be able to use the wireless access.

Hi! I can't connect to the internet wirelessly using a WRH54G. connection status is "limited or no..." when on dynamic IP. status says connected when a static ip is assigned. tried pinging the router and I...

"Limited or no conenctivity" means that the network key(security password) that you typed when connecting to the wireless network is incorrect. Try connecting the laptop to the router using an ethernet cable to check whether you can get online. Access your router's setup page to check your network key.

How to access the router's setup page :
1. Using a wired computer, pull up internet explorer or any browser.
2. On the address bar, type in 192.168.1.1 (default IP)then press enter. It will then ask you for a username and password. If you havent changed the settings, username should be left blank and the password is admin.
3. On the black bar on top of the setup page, click on the Wireless Tab. Then on the purple bar, click on Wireless Security.
4. On the Wireless Security page, you will then be able to check your network key.

I am trying to connect a new laptop to my home network. The wireless connection indicates that it is connected to the internet, but i canno get to the internet. I have statically assigned an IP like...

Internet explorer... Under the address bar you should see "file, view edit, favorites, tools and help" click on tools, internet options and go to the connections tab. make sure you have nothing in the white box then click on LAN settings. I bet you have "proxy settings" checked. None of the boxes should be checked.

Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

But in 2012, There will be a thing called Wi-max which means Wireless internet will be all over the world no matter where you are. So you can go on the internet wherever you are as long as you can connect to someones access point.
