Hi there and welcome to FixYa!

Sounds like you have a build up of dust collected in the fan of your computer which will cause the sound you described.

If you are comfortable with computers, go ahead and open up with the computer tower and use some of the compressed air cleaner you buy at Best Buy or Office Depot to clean it out. This should solve the problem :)

If you are not comfortable, take it into a computer repair store and explain the situation. It should be a very quick, inexpensive fix on their part.

Hope this helps and have a Happy Holiday!

I have Nissan Tiida Latio 2005. Engine gives scratchy sound on start up in morning and after long time being off. Sound is so scratchy.

ot may be a belt noise
before starting put a bit of soap detergent on the belt
after starting if the noise is gone , there are spray on belt quietening products on the market
if it is still there have the running bearings checked by an accredited mechanic.

Sound is scratchy.

possibly update or reinstall drivers for the sound card. In "device manager" find your soundcard and update drivers( you can always roll back to former drivers if this doesn't work. Also check mfg.s website forum for said sound card for insight into the problem. Don't forget, because it's an Acer doesn't necessarily mean the sound card is by Acer. good luck.

Slow motion, fuzzy scratchy noise, shutdown problems.

the same thing happened to me
this is not a device error but a OS error
to solve this problem
use system restore to restore the system to a date before this error started occurring
this a totally random error that happens due to a code fault
just restore the system to a date where this problem was not there and you will be fine

Scratchy and skipping sound inspiron b130

The computer may has a program that takes control of the processor at this time. You may view most of the processes happening on the computer by opening up the "Task Manager". You may access this by "Right Clicking" the "Taskbar" or "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete", and go to the "Processes" tab. Next you will want to click on the "CPU" line to view what processes are using the CPU the most. You may have to click on the button "Show Processes from All Users" to see all of them. The most likely possibility is the computer is compromised by a spy of some sort. I have seen this from Social Networking sites. I always recommend backing up all your important files however you desire to back them up. IF this process hog cannot be found it also could be a Memory hog as well. If the memory used goes near the Physical Memory available the computer will reduce the other processes to keep the computer running. All the processes running are like a Juggler, the more processes running with little Physical Memory is like the Juggler Juggling all those "Balls" within a small room, somewhere the juggler is going to drop a ball, in this case it may be the sound from the computer. In your case I would hope adding memory would be the best remedy for this situation.

this sounds like one of two things to do with heat: the cpu cooling fan, is it working all the time, a fault with the motherboard processor socket causing the overheat. contact me for support to http://www.motherboardsrus.net where you will find an email and phone number

LOgitech x230 - problems with sound

If the sound only happens when sound is being played through them I would check the shielding on your connections to your sound card. Make sure that any protective coverings are in place and that the connections are tight.

If it happens at random times even when sound is not being played through them I would see if you are picking up interference such as a close cell phone, fan, ham radio operator, etc.

Re: scratchy speaker sound quality

Have you tried with headphones?  Scratchy WITH heaphones. Reinstall driver. If it's NOT scratchy with headphones.  Either your speakers are blown, (which usually doesn't happen), you need to reinstall your sound card drivers, or bad settings.  Double click sound horn. Turn some volumes haflway, or mute sound channels you aren't using. Options Properties will let you show ALL sound properties. Ctrl+S makes the sound properties half size.
ReInstall Drivers: Start - Settings - Control Panel - System - Device Manager, Expand Sound Controllers, Right Click on your sound card, Click Uninstall.  Reboot and reintall.
Might ask to reinstall automatically.  Thats fine.  Install then reboot.  I prefer to cancel the install until I have rebooted.  But both ways tend to work.
Hope you don't have to change your speakers.  Need to pull your mobo to get to em. Instructions here pg. 5-55

Scratchy noise?

Are the speakers old? The only thing that can make a random scratchy noise on the speakers as far as I know is a dirty volume knob. Try turning it all the way up and all the way down (with nothing playing) and see if that helps. If it does, blow them out with some compressed air. I'm thinking your issue is probably software / driver related though, does the scratchiness happen in other programs? WinAmp? Windows Media Player? .. if it does, you've narrowed it down to a driver-related issue, go to your sound hardware's manufacturer website and download the latest drivers.
