Wolf Electric cooktop says "5Hr" and burners do not function

Wolf Electric cooktop says "5Hr" in the timer setting, cooktop is UNlocked, I turn any of the burners on, the lights go red but the burners are inactive?!! The original cooktop was installed in July 2008 and never unlocked. Got a replacement cooktop and it worked up till now, December 2008. Not a very good track record. Any tips on what is going on with my cooktop? Do I have another dud?...

I have exactly the same problem - nearly identical. Installed in July 08 and now doing the same thing. Lights up with no heat. Always reverts back to 5hr when we lock turn it off. Our is the 15" though, the small version. I guess we need to call the dealer.

SOURCE: Wolf cooktop 5HR light keeps turning on. Pressing

Turn off power to the cooktop (i.e., using circuit breaker if needed) for 15-20 minutes. Once turned power back on, problem disappeared for me. The semiconductor needed to be reset

Interesting, I'm looking for a solution to a similar issue. Our new (7 month old) 30'' Wolf Range has this issue. When both front burners are light, the back burner's electronic starter begins to click, but only when you put a pan on the front left burner. I believe the iron/steel in the pan is causing a magnetic field thats starting the rear burner to go off.. just don't know.. will report back after the repair person comes.

The cooktop will not turn on. The little red light in the lower right corner of the touch panel is blinking. If one touches and holds it it does not turn on a burner per usual. The timer function works....

I'm going to assume this is a new installation, either way, it sounds as if you're only getting one leg of your 220v circuit, which wld run the timer and lights but not enough to power the burners. This is prly not something you shld try and repair yourself as a 220v circuit can cause some serious damage. At the least, you could first, TURN OFF THE BREAKER and then check the connections to the cooktop to make sure all connections are secure.

Wolf Induction cooktop is locked in Showroom mode

If Shr (5hr) appears on the display then the cooktop is in showroom mode. To exit showroom mode the cooktop must be locked by pressing and holding the key symbol for 5 seconds. After the cooktop is locked, press and hold the melt touch pad for 5 seconds.

Throw your circuit breaker that leads to this unit for a few seconds, then reset the breaker This unit is very sensitive to power fluctuations.

Wolf range cooktop

I just installed a Wolf gas cooktop and had the same problem in that all 4 burners would light just fine but the electronic igniters would not stop clicking on all four. What I found was that the electrical outlet that my gas cooktop was plugged into had the polarity reversed. I tested the outlet with a polarity testing module (you can get one at Home Depot and it checks polarity, grounding, GFI and is handy to have around, small and inexpensive). I plugged it in and the lights told me that the polarity was reversed. I reversed the wires in the outlet (exchanged the white and black wires) put the cover back on, plugged in the cook top and now it works like a champ! no more constant clicking. By the way, we had a cooktop before this one with electronic ignition and never had a problem, apparently it didn't care about the polarity.
