Question about Broan-NuTone Allure® I WS136BC Kitchen Hood

1 Answer

No power I have the Allure series 1 and nothing works, no lights or fan. I look up the manual online and it did refer to a fuse for this model. I took the filters off and I can't find a fuse anywhere. I checked the breaker box and none have been tripped. Any advice?

I am having this same issue with my WS1 Allure series range hood. Wiring is good, getting power to the light switch, fan switch, and fan indicator light according to my voltage tester. But, the light does not come on to show this when I trip the switch. No fuse to be seen behind the button panel. Is it just plain defective? Are they not made with visible fuses anymore? (4 years since last post of this issue)
    Thanks for any help!

You have to take off the bottom part of the smoke hood and the lights and then you can look inside..the fuse is on the back of the push button panel...which is the control panel it is really small and hard to get out...you need some kind of wire that will hold its shape...to snake behing it aND PULL IT OUT...

Last night both fan and lights worked on my hood fan and lights. This morning neither are working. Checked house fuse box - everything ok there. what could be the problem does the allure have a fuse inside...

could be simething as simple as a disconnected wire, prior to calling for help, check these items if you feel okay with that , first turn off the circuit breaker and where the house wires come into the unit,, remove the wire nuts and check for burned areas,, if thats ok, reattach them and move to the switch or switches, unhook the wires, ( make note where each one goes ) and check them with a meter , this is probably where your problem will be,

Fan and lights come on and go off all day long on their own

We installed our Broan-Allure range hood about ten years ago. On three seperate occasions since, the fan has randomly turned on and none of the control buttons would turn it off. After a while it turns itself off. During those same times, when you turned the lights on, they would blink before finally staying on. On each occasion, I have removed the screens and metal underpieces to gain access to the circut board. Once you can see the circut board, remove and replace the 3 Amp fuse that is mounted on the board. (Radio Shack part # 270-1054)...even if the fuse looks good, replace it. Each time this has work for about three years, then it acts up again..

Changing fuse on Nutone Allure Ws2

Hi Mertl, I sure hope you found the solution since, but I am posting the answer for other people like me (and you) who need to find it !

The service manual says:

To replace the fuse:
1. Disconnect power at service entrance.
2. Remove filters, bottom panel, light wire harness, and air chute.

The fuse is actually right behind the fan controls, so to access it you need to disassemble everything that's in the way.

BTW, for anyone wondering if it's the fuse that's faulty, here's a clue:

If the fuse has opened (blown), the green fan-level indicators
will operate properly when the fan buttons/switches are pressed
- but the fan and lights will not turn on.

The fuse is a 5 x 20 mm, 10 Amp, Fast-Acting, 125V (min.).

Good luck all !

Had same problem & fuse fixed it.
Before buying a new control board (approx $160), check the 3 amp fuse located on the inside of the vent on the control board. You have to take the light/bottom housing & black plastic air chute off to see control board/fuse.

Check power from the wall.

Check power in the wiring coming into the hood.

Check to see wiring is not broken.

Broan allure fan and light

Check that you have not accidentaly switched the wall socket off in the cupboard above the rangehood. The slide switch could also be faulty.

I called Broan technical support. They said that they had heard of this issue before, but that there was no recall. I suggested that it was a frequent enough problem for it to come up 3 times in 12 mo. on one website. She was underimpressed with this statistic and said that they sell millions of them. She would not disclose the name of their supplier so that I could get some information on the actual controller unit. She did not seemed as pained as I was by having to part with $130 for a new controller.
