Question about JVC HD-52G786 52" Rear Projection HDTV
Our TV has begun making a high pitched noise that is there when you hit mute and when it is on any channel including the 'blue screen.' Colors and motion definitly affect the consitancy of the noise.
There is a singing coil in the power supply. This set uses whats called a Switch Mode Power Supply(SMPS) and as the picture changes, so does the amount of current the TV draws. Thats why the sound changes with the picture. This could be an indication that a part is going to fail soon or it is just a loose coil winding or a transformer winding. You should have the set checked out by a pro to be sure. Good Luck
