Monitor Switched Itself Off, Won't Turn Back On

I was sitting at my computer a couple of nights ago when my monitor switched off. Screen, power light, everything. The light on the transformer on the cord is still on, and when I unplugged it and plugged it back in, the computer made its obligatory noises for when you unplug and re-plug a USB device. I rebooted the computer, and still, no dice. Anyone have a suggestion?

Re: Monitor Switched Itself Off, Won't Turn Back On

Some older LCDs (I've only encountered this issue with LCDs) are 100% "comfortable" only with their
native resolution. So, if the resolution is set to anything but their native resolution problems like
the monitor wouldn't wake back up can be faced by the user.

On the other hand, some older LCDs can be "unhappy" with particular resolutions and by trial
and error the right resolution where your monitor won't play tricks on you anymore can eventually
be found.

Re: Monitor Switched Itself Off, Won't Turn Back On

If you have another monitor at home, try the other monitor. If not, take your computer to a friends house and try their monitor. I have a similar problem with my Compaq Presario SR1120NX. It turns on fine, then after a while screen saver kicks in, turns off monitor. Monitor status light turns amber. I move the mouse and it never turns back on. Have to hold power button down, then turn back on to get video back. Any suggestions?

With the computer on shine a flashlight on the screen where the Windows Start button would normally be. If you can faintly see it then your backlight has malfunctioned. Check your warrantee to see if you?re still covered. If not then it is repairable at most TV or computer repair shops. If you can?t see anything with the flashlight try connecting the monitor to another working PC. If the problem follows the monitor: -Check the monitor for bent or corroded pins. -Again see if you warrantee is still active or take it to a repair shop. A couple of options. First and cheapest, you could turn off the monitor. Second, for about thirty to fifty dollars, you can pick up an energy saving surge protector. With this, it has a main plug, and switched plugs. The switched plugs cut power when the main item is turned off. I.E. PC turned off, monitor, speakers, printer all turn off a moment later.

Firstly take it straight back and change it, if its a hardware issue then you want it changed sooner rather than later when it might run out of short term warranty.

Secondly, be sure that the vga/dvi cable is plugged in securely at both ends, it has to recognise the signal from the pc to turn its monitor on and start displaying. But change the monitor and fast!

I have the same monitor & just had same problem. Did you find a solution to your problem? This is the second time my monitor has done this. The first time I had problem i unplugged it and disconnected it from pc. Plugged it into power source and blue pilot light came on then went off. I did see the LG logo on screen before it shut down. After several times doing this and pressing the power switch repeatedly it seemed to reset and recognized it was not receiving a signal and indicated this. I then reconnected monitor to pc and all appeared to work fine for several days. Now I again have same problem after sitting over night.

The W1907 goes blank when i turned the monitor off and then on

I would say don't turn off the monitor at the switch at all unless you are not going to use it for a long time. I just leave mine switched on and the power save blanks the screen if I am away from it for 20 minutes. I leave my PC switched on all the time as well. If I need to use it for any reason it takes ages for it to start up fully so it's more convenient to just leave it all going so it's ready when I need it. If away from the PC for a day or more switch it off but I keep going back to it all day and night so it's easier for me to leave both on all the time.

It will be video cable or related.

Responding to prior post,
Fuses have nothing to do with the video proper.
If you have a message on the screen, which says the monitor is basically working or saying the fuses and inverter is working.

That message appears with lack of video, so it can be the cable itself, possibly the video card on the computer.

Monitor going black

HP's are known for bad capacitors in the power supply.
Replacing them is simple if you know how..not so simple if you don't.
Try your local TV repair centre. It should not cost alot to have the capacitors replaced.

Hope it helps =)

Flashing green power light - Black screen

I had the same problem with an AOPEN 17' lcd that was left behind at a rental property... I plugged it into my dell dimmension 4400 in place of my old analog. It worked fine the fist night, and got up and when turned it on again it had the famed green blinking power light. I switched back to the analog, and just disappointed I plugged in the AOPEN to another power source, and power came on a steady red light. I plugged it back into the puta and it came on again. I have not turned the monitor off again for fear of the blinks, and has been working great for close to a week now. Hope it helps someone else out there. Richard
