Question about Mitsubishi WD62628 62" Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Half of screen blacks out

Mitsubishi dlp wd62628/tv will work fine and all of a sudden the right side of picture will go black. Left half of program continues normally. We then will turn the tv off, then turn it back on with tv remote, wait for the power light to stop blinking green and when solid green will then turn it back on with cable remote. Picture comes back normal and then a while later will happen again. Please advise. tguinan

Same Problem just started at Power On with our 2 year old DLP Mitsubishi WD 52628. Has happened about 6 times in past week. Sometimes takes several power off/on cycles then all is seemingly OK. Any suggestions before we get the repair shop here after the Holiday? Thanks

Sounds like power supply caps or caps in the dm board

The DM board is the one with the digital connectors on the back panel. If you already have it appart, you may as well check the caps on all of the boards. The caps that go bad are typically Jamicon brand caps in 1000 uF and 330 uF values. There are also a couple of 3300 uF caps in the PS that cause problems.

Fading screen

If you're seeing a shadow either vertically or at an angle the most common/probable cause is the light tunnel in the light engine. I have this same problem with my ru-44sz51d and have found many people with similar problems. For reference search "dlp light tunnel" as many samsung dlp's are suffering from the same problem and have been since they were purchased. You should be able to repair this yourself, but only if you feel comfortable and are knowledgable in such a situation. The repair may consist of replacing any number of the 4 or so mirrors or just reapplying the silicone adhesive to the original mirror. As I have not done this yet myself I can only speculate and refer to topics I've read about. Good luck

No picture, sound ok

I have a similar issue. Sometimes the entire screen goes black and sometimes only one-half - either the top or bottom half goes black. The only solution we have found is to gently tap the TV (usually the front side) and the picture will come back for awhile. It almost seems heat related as it only goes out after the first 10 minutes of use. There must be a fix to this.

I have a TX32PM11C 32"

You have to turn off the "automatic", so the TV will not automatically show you what it wants you to see. Then, if you select 16:9 , you will see true widescreen.
Since you cannot physically change the size or shape of your TV, the picture itself will be black on the top and bottom. Since not all programs are widescreen, sometimes the sides will be black. You can try the other sizes to see which works best for you.

No. The optical engine is OK. You need an adjustment in the light tunel. Call a tech to do it.

Half a picture in black

Witch part of the screen you loose?if is the bottom or the top it could be a problem in the vertical IC circuit if is the left side or the right side is a problem on the horizontal deflection circuit(very rare),try taping on the set when it does it and see if the pix reacts ,if it does one way or the other you have loose conections and some resoldering need to be done.If you are familiar with tv circuitry you will have no problem. If you are not be safe and call for help.
