I'm not sure exactly what your deal is, but i have a similar problem. my screen was cracked, i replaced it, and when i turn it on or off, the screen goes all white. I'm guessing this is somewhat along the lines of normal. but if you still think something is wrong, call sony, and they should tell you what the deal is.
The colored line you saw was the actual screen pressing against the back of the psp......Example would be if you put your thumb and pressed on a laptop's screen. It doesnt work now because the screen is now cracked and you can either order a replacment screen on amazon for about 50 bucks or buy a new system
either take it to a game shop that can repair it or...

what you need to do is go to a service center and have the lcd replaced. there is no remedy for a cracked screen. btw, if you can buy just the lcd and have someone else install that, you can save a lot of money rather than sending it to a certified psp service center.
