Auto feeder pulls more than one page at a time for faxing etc

What do I do to fix the above problem?The ADF grabs all the sheets instead of just the top one. The problem starting slowly by sometimes grabbing more than one sheet. But now, it grabs them all every time!

TRY TO PUT IN SHEET IN THE PRINTER
BUT REMEMBER THAT ONE THING PUT SHEET BUT A LITTLE BIT SHEET BACK WERE THE SHEET TOUCH TO TO THE PRINTER

Make sure that you use a good quality paper, the performance also varies on the paper substance.

You need to ckean the rubber rollers that feed the paper into the machine! any mild cleaner will do!
That should fix ya!

Its the gear assembly problem for sure just get it replaced it will solve the problem.the gears r worn out.its common.

When making photocopies, the automatic top paper feeder is grabbing more than one page at a time. How do we fix it?


Clean all the rollers in the ADF with a damp lint free cloth. Depending on wear, they may need to be changed, but try cleaning first. Where the paper stack rests there will be either a pad or roller, make sure it is clean too.

I have an hp OfficeJet G85. The automatic document feeder won't work about half the time. Is there a way to clean or fix the feeder? Everything else works fine.

Depends on how the ADF is malfunctioning. If it just plain doesn't work, then you are likely looking at a control cable / connector issue.

If it grabs multiple pages at same time, or doesn't want to grab pages at all, you can try using a "cleaning sheet" available for inkjet printers. Most office supply stores will sell these. The cleaning sheet helps to clean the paper path (wheels, idlers, etc). You should also be able to pop open the ADF cover, and remove any paper debris that is present. See owners manual for this procedure though, it is easy to break the cover.

NG: Poor Line Condition / Out Of Memory


This problem could be Phone line problem, or hardware failure or receiver's (the machine of the person whom you are sending the fax) machine problem and so on. First, let's check the line, if you have another Phone line, please dial from the number to your number, also, connect the currently connected line to a receiver and call a Land-line number, if the outgoing or incoming is ok, the proceed forward, otherwise, you telephone operator should check the line.

Sometimes, sending fax to a particular number doesn't work, to make sure, try sending a fax to another number.

If the line which is connected to the machine is extended from another machine such as Receiver, Switch, etc... unplug them and connect the fax machine directly to the Line.

It's also important to adjust the compatibility mode, to do this, follow the steps below:
  • Press Menu.
  • Press the up or down arrow key to select Fax.
  • Press OK.
  • Press the up or down arrow key to select Miscellaneous.
  • Press OK.
  • Press the up or down arrow key to select Compatibility.
  • Press the left or right arrow key to select Basic (for VoIP).
  • Press OK.
  • Press Stop/Exit.

If you place the scanning document/file on the auto-sheet feeder, you can help it pulling inside the passage or you can use the glass (flatbed) instead. Sometimes, this small mistakes with the sheet-feeder creates this problem. You can also clean the rollers inside the ADF (auto document feeder) passage.


If all of the above measure don't help, I would suggest you to call brother and seek their help. The rest is with mechanical or we can say hardware or firmware related issue. (use this form to contact Brother)

Brother MFC-490cw gives error when I try to send a fax. Machine prints a transmission verification report listing error as NG:poor line condition/ out of memory. What are the possible problems and...

Vertical paper feeder for the copier not grabbing next original sheet


I'm having a similiar problem. Can't consistantly feed one sheet at time. If i load several sheets it pulls all through, etc

ADF will only feed one sheet then stop


no,just try to clean the roller of the ADF at the same time the separator pad.make sure that you are using paper that is 24lb weight coz if you are using paper that is so thin if may cause also an issue that the ADF could not pick-up...if the issue is still occuring return/replaced the printer...

Scanning / faxing problem


you will need to replace the adf assembly or the portion of adf roller which was dameged.

typically one should open th ecover and take out the jam inth direction of papermovement only
