Heavy pixalated playback .. VX2100

Don't know if this was a problem with my tape or if the camera is did the damage.. what do you think.. This seems to happen 2 out of 8 projects.. I have about 45 min of footage.. all of the footage is good from that day except for one tape.. after about 30 min of footage on the tape it pixalates heavly .. and the audio drops in and out... I looked at the acutal tape and it looks like the tape has a fold line in it ?? I will capture again .. some of the footage looks better some is worse.. what do you think could cause this on this cam... Also .. I black all of my tapes on a JVC camcorder never on the VX2100 .. I never reuse tapes.. I also capture with a JVC camcorder also .. I would say out of 20 tapes .. I have had 2 do this .. any sugguestions .. the VX2100 is about 3 years old

Try to clean your heads with a video heads cleaning cassettefor ten seconds and try to read your tape.
If it doen't help, your footage is corrupt.

My vx2100 plays back every time I record something. I don't know why but it's super annoying. I figured the search buttons on top are loose or broken but I don't know. Is there any way I could...

The VX2100 is quite a complicated camera and can be easily damaged during disassembly. I don't know of any setting that would cause this to happen but you can try resetting the camera functions pressing the rest button to see if this goes away. Otherwise the camera should be repaired by a qualified technician.

My Sony Vx2100 has grey bars over the footage i have shot. This started as soon as i switched to sony tapes then i went back and still i have grey bars on the playback footage. Is this just my heads...

This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

Recording onto a mini dv tape from Mac computer Via firewire

I have successfully recorded to a mini Dv tape from my computer however I connected my PC to the VX2100 using the RCA inputs. I have an adapter that I purchased from best buy that provides the RCA input/output. If your able to connect that make sure to...

1. Turn you VX2100 to Play/Edit mode (not camera mode)
2. Insure the program on your mac has an external output otherwise you won't be able to record.
3. See if your video editing software (if your using one) has an option for record to tape or to camera. I use Vegas Studio and it has an option for that.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

GL2 Tape comes out pixalized

You may have a heavy clogging of the heads. The head cleaning tape will not serve in this situation but manual head cleaing from trained technician. Head cleaning service shoud go around $100. Same symptom would happen when the tracking goes off on GL2 and this may cost more to adjust. -James. For further assistance by email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

Bars on tape playback

I would first try testing it out with Sony tapes first. If the problem persist, then it needs to go in for repair.

Canon xl2 playback

I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE A PROBLEM EXCEPT TRYING TO USE A GENERIC TAPE TO RECORD IN HD AND THEN EXPECTING IT TO PLAYBACK IN HD. IT WASN'T MADE FOR THAT AND WON'T WORK FOR HD. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE A HD CAMERA, YOU NEED TO USE THE CORRECT HD TAPES TO EXPECT THEM TO WORK AND PLAYBACK CORRECTLY. WHY WOULD YOU BUY ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE CAMERAS ON THE MARKET AND THEN USE A $2.00 TAPE AND TRY TO PLAY IT ON A $2000.00 CAMERA AND WONDER WHY IT DOESN'T WORK? BUY GOOD QUALITY TAPES.

Camera won't playback or record poss damaged heads

I think your problem is in the analog to digital converters. They seem to not be working, It is probably cheaper to buy a new camera rather than fixing yours.

Songy VX2100

I had the same problem when I reused tapes that I had recorded on before, but I don't have this problem when I use brand new tapes. I use Panasonic and Sony tapes and the odd JVC.
