If you use a special Canon FD to Canon EOS adapter it should be posible to use FD lenses on an EOS body, restricted to manual focus only - no motor drive, but with the focus OK double beep. Photo dealers in UK or on search on eBay might help you

No, Canon EOS models use a different type connection for its lenses (EF series) and thus will now work with the "FD" lenses from the AE-1

I cannot press down the shutter release and the film advance tab will not move, therefore making it impossible for me to take photos. Please help.

I guess it is actually an AE1 and not an EOS, as EOS is a digital camera! You will have to scrap the film in the camera by opening the back and removing the film. Take out the film can, then pull the film off the take up spool press the windback button on the bottom of the camera. This should get it working again. Try a few shutter releases and wind ons before putting a new film in. If you have important images on the film you don't wan to lose just do the above in complete darkness, and wind the loose film back into the can using the knob at the bottom.

Ae1 when i advance film the shutter releases abd takes a photo

You have bad mirror release magnet.
The magnet became weak and not holding the mirror so when you wind, the mirror goes up and takes pictures or releases the shutter by itself.

Hey,

This can be used with many Digital SLR and Film Cameras, the compatble models are Nikon Digital SLR Cameras D60 & D40, Cannon EF SLR cameras, can also be used with Cannon Digital Rebel XT 8MP

Let me know if this helps

I have got an EOS Elan II E Film Camera (Cannon). I want to know Cannon has camera with a digital body which suits the lens attachment of EOS Elan II E.

Hi, all canon EOS digital cameras can take all EF lenses. An EF lens from 1989 will fit a Digital body from 2009.
The newer EF-S lenses will only work with the smaller APS-C size sensors on the cheaper consumer bodies.
Hope this answers your query, please take the time to rate!

Cannon lenses

All canon EF lenses (and compatibles e.g. Sigma EX) can be used with both analog and digital  EOS-bodies. Depending on the sensor size (usually smaller than a 35 mm negative) a crop-factor due to the smaller field of view must be considered.  Example: Canon EF 50mm/1.8 lens used on a digital EOS (40D, crop factor 1.6) equals a 80mm lens (50mm x 1.6) compared to analog cameras using 35mm film. Some digital EOS-models can also use EF-S lens-series.

Takes a picture when film advance lever is moved

The magnets that control the shutter are the likely suspect. Dirt and debris can cause them not to hold properly. Hence, it fires the shutter when you advance the film. It is something you can repair yourself. I can describe the procedure if you are interested.

This should work as long as you have the correct converter ring for the camera.
