Question about Samsung HCN4226W 42" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Sears representative replaced the motherboard and it still does not work after the new one was installed. They said they would have to order another part (didn't say what it was) and are now telling me that the part is no longer made. They just said it was too big to be shipped to my apartment. I have seen many posts that indicate a "do it yourself" approach to repairs. I have no clue what I'm looking at on the inside of my television but if it is something that can be fixed by me, I would love to try.

If you hear a ticking and or buzzing sound as it is trying to start up then most likely the replacement lamp is bad. Take it out and reseat it one more time to see what happens. The noise you hear is the ballast attempting to fire the lamp up.

sub deflection ... doesnt sound right. sound like to me a convergence amp problem..there are two big chips called stk's these are like 20 pin chips that get really hot.. they blow all the time..not a simple repair. if it just the red then you might get away with replaceing 1 of them ..usally you replace both. also there may be a fuse somewhere that blows when they blow. then once you get those replaced it takes bout hour to adjust them...

You should never, ever, clean a flat screen TV or monitor with Windex or any other alcohol based cleaner. Don't use anything but a soft dry cloth.

SOURCE: I have a 46" Samsung,
If your TV has a 46 inch screen then the model must be LNS4692D not 4092D. I recently had the exact same problem with my LNS4692D after 30 months of use. It was indeed the A/S T CON board that caused the problem. I ordered a board from partstore.com and replaced it myself. The TV is now working as it should. Saved $500 to $600 by doing the work. I documented the repairs, complete with pictures in a MS Word document but I dont think I can post it here. Replacing the board was not too difficult but it should not be attempted by someone with no experience at all in these matters.
